A very nice hostel. It's super clean (as the cleaning lady did the best job I ever seen in the hostel. ) And the kitchen is well equipped so you can prepare your own meal. And the host will share a good local meal with you sometime as well. We had a very good family style dinner last night with other travelers in the hostel.
He looks serious when working (as he cares about his hostel and cares for his guests). But when you talk and drink with him, he is very talkative.
He also does beyond that, not just help you to book the tour in the last minutes and give you the advice on activists and transportation.
Saw one traveler come to the hostel totally wet in the evening , the clothes inside the backpack as well. He needs to leave on the following days after the Corcovado tour. So he doesn't have time to v wash or dry the clothes. The host helped him to wash and dry the clothes even after 8pm. So he can pack it dry in his backpack. Never see this in a hostel.
Also a lot of open areas and hammocks to chill even on a rainy day.
There are Surfing classes for beginners and advanced level, and Spanish class as well.
Sometimes there is a yoga class. I also graped a yoga mat and did my own yoga with the birds who sing all day.
I am so glad to watch the humpback whale (mom and baby) and they jumped. Really lucky.
And saw the Kapis in the Corcovado national park during the day tour.
Did a ATV 4WD tour. It's great fun to drive on a scenery mountain road and visited a local coffee farm and two water fall. The great fun at the end!!!!
Will keep you busy for...
Read moreI really enjoyed my time at Luminosa. The grounds are lovely with lots of hammocks and seating to chill in. Aside from going to Parque Ballena, I barely left the hostel in my two day stay as I was happy just to hang out and do yoga while watching the cows that live next door.
The kitchen was very clean and functional, though there were a looooot of fruit flies, but it's something that's really hard to avoid in the tropics if you have an open-air setup. I also thought it was a bit odd that one of the dorms was directly off the kitchen. Luckily this is not the dorm I stayed in, but I imagine it was hard for those who did to get much peace until the kitchen was done being used, which is supposed to be 10 PM but I believe there were folks in there a bit later than that.
The only other comment I would make is that I was a little disappointed by the lighting in in the common areas. I saw lots of string lights all over but none of them seemed to be working or on. There were a lot of harsh white LED lights in use instead, something I am personally very sensitive to, though I know others are not generally as bothered by...
Read moreWe stayed at B&B luminosa on the 25th. When we arrived and checked in we realized the room was actually a backdoor from the kitchen. With guest accessing the kitchen this is not ideal. The person who greeted us for the checkin also asked us what time we wanted breakfast, from 7:30 to 8am because at 8am breakfast finished apparently. We made our plans accordingly. During the night someone tried to get into our bedroom probably mistaking the door for toilets or something. On the following day we realized breakfast would only be prepared around 8:15 and you could actually get food at 8:30. But we were lucky to meet Adriana, who was amazingly friendly. She taught us how to make empanadas, allowed us to get a coconut and was really nice with all guests. So all in all Adriana’s hospitality was impressive, for the rest, I...
