The hotel is adequate, especially for the low price ($50). I always say, you get what you pay for! The room is very small and basically accommodates a bed, which is totally fine. The best part was that it had A/C, but don’t expect hot water!|The breakfast is simple, but adequate, for a typical Costa Rican breakfast.|The photos on the website are representative of only some of the rooms that are located by the pool, but most are in an older building.|The exterior, common & pool areas are well maintained. The staff members are constantly working on many tasks/chores at the hotel.|If you try to communicate with the host, Leonard, through TripAdvisor, FORGET about it. I asked for early arrival and he never replied after 2 attempts. I arrived 3 hours early and offered to pay the fee for early arrival which is offered on the site, but since he never replied to my request from the website and also at arrival, he turned me away, but he did hold my luggage when I Asked. He said the check-in office was closed until 3pm, which is actually him changing office! Leonard is stern, unfriendly, never smiles and is less than accommodating. The other person in the office (unfortunately, I only saw him once) and the staff are very friendly.|It’s a great thing that they are a cat rescue sanctuary, but if allergic, etc, you should know. They just wander around the property and lounge around which was totally fine..|It’s unfortunate, but my rating is mostly reflective of the lack of customer service, such as providing the incorrect passcode at check in and when I questioned the code and also asked for a pool towel (same as in the room) he seemed put out...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE EVER. We got there super excited. We walk to our room, first thing, door was half open but anyways we ignored it. Me and my friend laid on the bed before we jump in the shower and after about 3 minutes of being there my friend sees LOTS of bed bugs BIG ONES all over the bed. We jumped off the bed to leave because there was NO WAY we were going to stay there. We were not even mad but didn’t want to be there. When we were leaving the front desk girl who took care of us earlier was super nice and offered another room but we said we preferred to leave (we showed her a video of the bed bugs that my friend recorded with her iPhone) The girl said she was going to call someone I don’t know if a manager or owner. This lady comes to us WITH THE WORSE ATTITUDE, when we explained what happened she said they were just a couple bugs not to make a big deal. I explained they are BED BUGS and I owned a cleaning company so I know how hard is to get rid of them in case we were to get them. Then she said it was because I wasn’t from here and following, after I showed her the video she with THE WORSE ATTITUDE AND DISRESPECT told me to prove that video was taken there. Thank God iPhone allowes you to see time and location you took a picture at. When I showed her that she said to ask Expedia for a refund and left us. NEVER AGAIN WOULD COME...
Read moreBooked this hotel on booking.com. We made it clear at the time of booking that we were coming with a pet (a service animal to be precise). Upon arrival the hotel canceled our stay and claimed our credit card was not working. We know this to be false because we booked hotels before and after this hotel with the same credit card. We offered another credit card and they told us there would be additional fees for our service animal. When we showed them the communication we had with the hotel detailing we had a service animal, they told us it didn't matter. The hotel staff was extremely rude. We finally decided that we would find another hotel because this hotel seemed like they didn't want us their (despite the total lack of other guests).
I'm sure others have better experiences but we feel very strongly that you should not give them your business. If you have a pet, they probably won't let you stay...
