We stayed at Hotel Naranjal two full days/nights last March 2 & 3, arriving w/o a reservation, and were welcomed by the lady owner, very pleasant and accommodating, We were given two rooms opening on the the central Pool area. One room was changed without a fuss as the A/C was not working properly. Comfortable and good size rooms, in the local style, Clean, good WiFi everywhere, quiet at night and walking distance to the busy main street. Parking on the premises as well. The pool, although not very big was fun and warm, nice area to lay in the sun too. Breakfast was adequate during the week, buffet-style during the week-end. The price was very reasonable at about CAD80.00/night.Again, it is a family hotel in Costa Rica, so don't expect everything to be perfect like a 4 * that it does not pretend to be, like perfect walkways outside, a lot of extra towels, box of tissues in bathroom, etc. , but we fully enjoyed our stay and felt very safe too (guards at night). We would recommend it to any of our friends. The week-ends get busy though with families w/kids as it is a short drive from San José for...
Read moreWe arrived in Jaco without a hotel reservation and were taken to Hotel Naranjal by a taxi driver. It turned out to be a good deal. The hotel was located at the south end of town, so a short walk to the center but very quiet. We had a spacious room, cleaned daily, with a comfortable bed, a couch and a full size refrigerator. The shower was good. We had a flat screen TV with English-language cable channels. Wifi was supposed to work in the room but very rarely did. It did sometimes work sitting outside and was quite good at the reception area. The pool was good-sized and pleasant. There were plenty of chairs and lounges to relax on. The only thing lacking was some shade. We booked one night and then checked around town for a better deal. We couldn't find one. All the other hotels we looked at wanted more money for lesser rooms and were unwilling to negotiate. The Naranjal was willing to drop the price 30% when we walked in without a reservation. And we were given the option of including breakfast or not. The discount made it a good deal. We ended up staying several more days and...
