We spent couple of nights there, the hotel was clean, the room was OK for the price. The check in was not that good to be honest, they charged our credit card wrongly, reason why we had to wait 6 days to get our money released for this error. Not much information provided, as a turist we want to hear recommendations, advices, things going on in town, this as part of the good service you expect when u do a check in in any hotel.||Along our stay, we mentioned that there was a weird smell in the bathroom area but they quickly send people to check and clean it and the smell was gone. Quick solution, very appreciated. We liked thet fact there was security at night. We love the fact that we had a mini fridge, nice amenity. We met the italian owner next morning, very kind man open to heard feedback, which is really important when u manage a hotel. As part of the feedback for this hotel, breakfast was Ok, open from 7am to 9am, but 2 things: we normally like to sleep until 8am, so we went down for breakfast around 08:30am the 2 days we were there, unfortunaty the food was cold and the area itself kind of messy. The orange juice is NOT orange juice, it is just water with a bunch of sugar, you gotta improve that or get it out of the menù to not create fake expectations. Cleanness and Hygiene are very important nowadays, the spoon, knife and folks shouldn't be on the table without protection, cloth napking or paper cover might be a better idea. Hope you work and take in consideration this opportunity areas to improve. Its a beautiful hotel, well located with lots...
Read moreAvoid This Hotel – Serious Hygiene Issues We recently stayed at this hotel near Sámara Beach and were extremely disappointed. After two nights, we discovered a red ant nest, complete with eggs, under the mattress in the bed where our 4 year old child was sleeping. This resulted in her being covered in bites on her arms and legs. Initially, we thought they were mosquito bites, but upon discovering the infestation, it became clear they were from the ants.
While we understand that Costa Rica’s tropical climate encourages encounters with nature, we’d already overlooked the ants crawling across the bedroom floor, assuming it was part of the experience. However, finding an active ant nest in the bed was a step too far and completely unacceptable.
We brought this to the staff’s attention and were offered another room. However, given the extent of the issue and our loss of trust in the hotel’s cleanliness, we decided to leave early. Despite escalating the matter to the reception, then the manager and even the owner, the hotel refused to refund the unused night we had prepaid for. Their handling of the situation was dismissive and unprofessional, prioritizing $115 over basic customer care and safety.
If you value cleanliness, safety, and proper service, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.
Ona separate note, the hotel in general is tired and run down. Doors hanging loose, shower head falling off, cracked walls, cracks in windows, but on the plus side, the staff are lovely and the...
Read moreGreat location but be warned, there are bugs even in your room. The windows and doors all have gaps along the edges that are large enough for cockroaches to come in. We only saw one during our 4 days there but there were lots of large black ants and big termites occasionally roaming the walls/ceiling every day. Wear bug spray at all times, even to bed or you will get bit by mosquitoes. The breakfast buffet was good, not amazing. They provide plenty of watermelon and pineapple, gallo pinto, eggs, toast, cereal, fruit juice, coffee, tea, hotdogs instead of breakfast sausage, and salsa but if you want to get seconds, make sure you show up by 8:30. At 9 they stop making large amounts and only make what you ask for, especially with eggs. They are not rude about it in any way, but if you are shy like me you won't feel right asking them to cook a second round since breakfast ends at 9:30. If you want another option for breakfast, walk up the street to Roots Bakery, they are super affordable and the food is tasty. The pool was very nice and shady a majority of the day. The location of the hotel is great, 2min walk from the beach and surrounded by all the restaurants/groceries. Coco's was our go to spot for meals, huge portions and good prices. My favorite beer was the fresa(strawberry) one, which was surprisingly fruity. They take some time to make the food but it is worth the wait! Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating, would still recommend if you are not...
