I'm feeling generous today so they very 3 stars. This place is always blistering hot because there is only a tin roof overhead and today three fans were working. Thank God another store opened up to complete with pali. The prices are slightly higher than other places but not much. The employees, well until you get to know them after several trips they are not that friendly, but in their defense it may be the language barrier, I doubt it, but it's possible. Walmart should be ashamed for owning Pali Costa Rica and having a store like this. Even the stores in Hojancha are better and new than this place. Although the prices can be higher at other places, I'll continue to shop other places. Because of competition there are a lot less checkers now and I still had to wait in a hot hot line for 15 minutes, thank God for the China...

They have limited wines and traditional Costa Rican beers, along with all kinds of groceries. If I had to compare it, I might go with a dollar general feel with a little higher prices.
The staff is quick and efficient, and they quickly put your groceries into a buggy so that you can bag them in a separate area.
They are very covid aware here with temperature checks and hand sanitizing before entering the store.
The parking is limited, but you should be able to find what you are looking for. There is a small butcher counter as well with a limited selection.

Read morePali, from what I was told by a local, is a Walmart owned supermarket in Samara. It has similar items to the New China store down the street but seemingly a better variety of Casta Rican goods. I was also comparing prices and the prices here tend to be cheaper for non-made in China products.
