We stayed at this hotel on February 14th. The décor throughout the hotel is stunning, modern and stylish, shame about the staff, who are unhelpful and especially the breakfast team, on the morning of the 15th. Upon arrival on the 14th we were advised that the restaurant was fully booked as it was Valentines, which was understandable. We were then advised that we could order food in the bar area, which suited us fine. The first male bar staff member was very helpful with menus and drinks, but then a film crew arrived in the bar area and completely monopolised the staff and took over the area with their promotional camera shoot. We finally had chance to order food but as we were starting to eat, a floodlight strength light on a tripod was positioned directly on our table and was dazzling in our faces, most uncomfortable. To make it worse, the two film crew members were not using the light at that time, but standing elsewhere chatting. We asked a member of staff if it could be moved slightly while we were eating, and he replied “oh it won’t be for long”. After a few more minutes, it was so uncomfortable and dazzling that my husband and I moved our plates and drinks to another table away from the glare. We thought it was very rude and inconsiderate to paying customers and also seemed bad planning to get a film crew in the bar area on a night when the restaurant was full and it was the only other place to eat and relax. Worse was to come at breakfast the next morning, we were asked on 3 separate occasions to confirm our room number, despite showing our room key card upon arrival. The staff seemed uptight, rude, abrupt and didn’t seem to know what they were doing. I said I would go for the continental breakfast option as I only wanted yoghurt and a croissant. All of the breakfast was laid out as a buffet, so, as with most hotels, we assumed we helped ourselves. I asked a staff member if there was any yogurt and she pointed to a carafe of what looked like maybe strawberry yoghurt. I asked if there was any plain yogurt, but no. I thought it was odd to serve yoghurt from a water carafe, but poured some into a cereal bowl. It was so watery and bland, I only had a couple of spoonfuls. Next I had to ask if there were any croissants and was told they were all gone but someone would go and bring some more out. The lady who kept asking our room number, came over and asked yet again and when I ordered a cappuccino, I was told bluntly by our server, it’s not included in the breakfast price, but extra. A cappuccino?!?! I got up again and asked if there would be any croissants and the lady snapped “yes in a minute” I noticed several of the staff were talking in pairs and it was clear they were talking about us and looking in our direction. It was very blatant and uncomfortable. The lady who appeared to be in charge came over to our table with our server and said that the problem was the continental option breakfast was served only and not actually “buffet” at all! She did apologise that it should have been explained to us, but by this time we felt so uncomfortable and the atmosphere especially amongst staff was so tense, we decided to leave. We paid our bill, including for my “continental “ breakfast which consisted of a couple of spoonfuls of watery yoghurt and an extra $5 for the cappuccino. The staff were blunt, tactless and completely disorganised. As were still hungry we walked into the town and had a pleasant breakfast at Fillipo’s. This was our last day in Costa Rica and after a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Andaz, Guanacaste, where staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful, it was a very...
Read moreFrom beginning to end, this hotel was one of the best we’ve ever experienced. We had a regular room for the first 2 nights, which was perfectly fine, but then we got upgraded (either because of our Explorer status or a Guest of Honor certificate) to a suite with a separate living area, which was such a nice treat! The suite had enough room that it would have benefitted from some clothing storage in the bedroom area. Instead they opted for another table and chair, even though the living area has a desk with 2 chairs and a sectional couch. Not a complaint, just a suggestion!
The staff at this hotel was absolutely amazing! The entire front desk staff was always super welcoming and helpful - the names I remember are Vanessa, who checked us in, and Paola, who helped us with our upgrade – but they were all fantastic. The daytime concierge/bellhop/lobby guy, Winston, was one of the most likeable humans I’ve ever met, and seemed genuinely happy that we were staying there.
The location is a 60 second walk to Plaza Tiempo, a great food-court and restaurant area (a bit of shopping and a beauty salon as well), where we ate most nights. We visited Avogarden restaurant three times during our one week stay! It’s close to the enormous Multiplaza mall, but I’m not sure if it’s safe to walk there (due to the route and cars, not due to crime concerns), but it was only a 3-5 minute Uber ride. Google maps said 1 hour 30 minutes walk, which I assume would be the safe route, away from cars. Because Uber is relatively inexpensive here, I won’t say you NEED a car, but the location isn’t walkable to anything interesting, other than the food court and another shopping area a short walk east. Again, just an FYI, not a complaint.
Our stay at Hyatt Centric San Jose couldn’t have been better, and we will absolutely stay here again, and recommend without...
Read moreFrom the moment we pulled up to the hotel, we were made to feel so welcome. The door staff greeted us with a warm smile, and the front desk team was incredibly friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed for a seamless stay. As we walked through the halls, every team member greeted us with a smile and asked if there was anything they could do for us—truly top-tier hospitality.
The breakfast was outstanding, with a variety of delicious options and great service. The food was fresh, flavorful, and a perfect start to the day.
One moment that stood out was when we were leaving. As we walked through the halls, we were approached by someone who stopped what he was doing, took our suitcases, and escorted us to the car. It was such a kind, personal touch that really exemplified the level of service at this hotel.
The area around the hotel is also fantastic—full of new developments, great restaurants, and lots of things to do, all within walking distance.
Before I even arrived, the front office manager, Jhonnthan, was incredibly helpful in setting me up with a rental car and giving me some great local advice, which made my trip that much easier.
Though this hotel is newly opened, I can tell it’s going to be amazing. The room was well-appointed with everything I needed—espresso, a great TV, a super comfortable bed, and high-quality towels and robes. The cleanliness of the entire hotel was impeccable, which only added to the overall experience.
I’m excited to see how this hotel grows and flourishes. I highly recommend it to anyone...
