One of the oldest, ugliest but most renowned youth hostels in Zagreb. It's been there, near the train station it seems forever, and you can really tell that by the incredibly Harry-Potter-below-the-stairs kinda rooms and metal, pre-WWII London children's hospital like metal embeded beds and nanno-sized rooms. Everything is old, kinda dirty, cheap-looking and noisy here (although their prices are not cheap at all when compared to what you get for the money.) Rooms look more like a detention institution, or a 19 century monastery and are often too small to turn around without having to step on the bed, which is, in fact, the whole room. Didn't try the food but honestly didn't even bother. Still, there are upsides: great location, near to the main square, train station, renowned Zrinjevac square and King Tomislav's square, as well as the Importane underground shopping center. Inspire of it's unbalanced cost-benefot ratio, still one of the cheapest place to sleep at in Zagreb, Croatia, however unfortunate this fact may be. So if you're young and are just looking for a place to sleep, this is certainly a go-to place. Regardless of it's age, it gives for a great historical and a "world traveler" experience, when you look at all the crowds rambling about there. I am sure there are still many many segments I never experienced from this place, so it is yet again a great place to discover and experience. Also, you will sleep wonderfully here since the rooms really stimulate to that with their setting. All in all, a good choice if you're staying only a night or two in Zagreb, Croatia, if you wanna "get dirty" in the terms of a real Zagreb experience and first hand world traveler experience, and if you just want an adventure to remember it by. Actually, there are only two moments ever that I would choose this place to sleep over in Zagreb, Croatia: when I feel like turning my stay there into an adventure and when I want to go cheap. The third one, I suppose, would be when I want to experience a bit of a history, and the fourth one, I imagine, if I just want to feel young and careless for a night or two again. Most certainly one of the places that you should at least give a check out, because of it's real life and real Zagreb and real "what it really means to be hard core world traveling" experience. In my opinion, if you satisfy or want any of the above, go and knock yourself out - in the end it indeed is worth it. It's the...

Hostel looks like from horror Hostel movie. The bathroom is full of mold and stinks like in big city sewer, I almost throw up. Window couldn't be closed because hinges were rotten. Basically no one ever made refit of this terrible hostel. I came here because my brother had heavy spine surgery and my mother came to see him in this horror room. When I returned to the hotel from outside the unpleasant, arrogant and very rude receptionist (blond hair) told me that my mother couldn't be in our room. I explained that she doesn't sleep there but just came to be with him but she continued in a same repetitive tone that she needs to go away. I went to the room, if you can call it a room and found instantly apartment over airbnb although I payed two nights to stay in this misery hostel. So briefly, hostel couldn't get half star, inspection should close it instantly (not safe, not hygienic) , the receptionist should learn her manners, suspicious people sleep there, corridors are loud during the night. I booked this hostel only because it is in hospital vicinity. On the parking lot there are piles of trash and everything looks like during second world war. If I could give 0 stars or even negative stars deep below zero I would do so. ADVICE: IT IS BETTER TO SLEEP ON THE STREET IN CARDBOARD BOX THAN IN THIS DUMP! DO...

Good price value for Croatia, staff seems to be moody but they still do their job

Liked · The location - center, 5 mins walking from the train station, everything else is also very near. Free lockers with the deposit. The beds very comfortable. The rooms have fans so people should not be complaining about rooms being too hot. There are vending machines in the hostel - it might be life saving in thee middle of the night - but they accept cash only.

Disliked · Apart from the girl working in the morning no one smiles, they do their job, but still, when they looked at me I felt guilty of being there. Urinals in men toilet don't work, on any of the floors. there is a note saying that it's temporary but the note is so old that the color faded away - only one shower for the entire floor, can be problem. When it comes to Zagreb the price is great for the value, but comparing to other countries, it is very expensive, but accommodation in Croatia in general is of high price if you compare the ratio to food...

Easily the worst hostel I have ever visited. UNSAFE: the old elevator started to go down while I was pushing the door to exit. I immediately informed the receptionist who did nothing and didn't take the issue seriously. RUDE STAFF: I formally asked for a confrontation with the manager who never showed up, nor replied my email. The receptionist couldn't care less. As other customers wrote: the staff should learn manners. DIRTY: found dust and garbage under the beds and in the lockers. The same cane of beer sat at the reception the whole day INDOOR SMOKING: officially forbidden, but the smell of smoke is really bad(I wander why). For this reason not suitable to guests with allergies. Only one key per DORM. No kitchen ware. Windows so old that they can't be properly closed, resulting in noisy and cold rooms. The few pros: comfy beds, hot shower, location I recommend not to go

The hostel was a great location, the staff were lovely & so helpful. Clean rooms and bathrooms, even though they were shared, very clean!! I would bring a towel though as the one you can rent is hand towel size. Also you have to share a key with whoever is in your room. I ended up leaving and not staying the night…I shared a room with two people, and the older lady, must’ve been late 40s/early 50s made me feel very unsafe. She kept going in and out smoking, not locking the door when she was back, kept staring at me at one point and other strange things…it was very odd (Guess it was just bad luck, not faulting the hostel). If you’re looking to socialise, this isn’t the place for you, as the common room was empty every time I saw it

Terrible place.. I give 1 star for the free parking, except from that there's nothing positive to say about it.. Dirty bedsheets, non working and dirty stinking toilets, shady guest and staff. We had to pay for some membership that we had no idea about, and when asking about it we got some bad explanation. Lots of shady characters living on the hostel, addicts and street-vendors. We booked and payed for two nights, but the situation was so bad that we only stayed for one night because we honestly didn't feel safe there. It's a great solution for free parking but not more than that, its definitely worth to pay a few kn more for another place.
