A great venue with a pool and bar on the roof, which is a great venue for a holiday. My wife found that having got into the pool she could not get out, due to the lack of adequate steps in and out. Thankfully guests assisted me in helping my wife stand again. We found the next day that the Health and Wellness Centre, off reception, had a great indoor pool. This was considerably larger, and had a gradient of steps which enabled my wife, who has limited mobility, to get in and out of the pool. There is also a lift at the entrance of the pool, if you cannot manage steps. The Jacuzzi in there is also very good, and much warmer than the pool, which is not overheated unlike some hotel spas. ||The breakfast is buffet style, and the drinks machine dispenses a variety of coffee drinks, also water and milk for tea. The Cappuccino that the machine dispenses is excellent. There are ample rolls and bread. Cooked beans, bacon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms etc., available. There are a variety of cold meats, cheeses, olives etc., also, and salad. Cereal, a mix of walnuts and other items if you want them. There are juices if you prefer these. The waiters and chefs keep the food replenished, and also clear the table of used plates and bowls. They also lay up a table on the tables outside the restaurant, we liked having our breakfast al fresco, so did others. ||We were fortunate to have an upgrade on our room. There was a massive balcony with table and chairs on it, and a great view of the harbour, sea and surrounding buildings. The bathroom was good as well, with plenty of space to lay washing and shaving items out in. There is a walk in shower, that leaked water under the shower door slightly when it was in use. The water in the shower heated up very quickly. The only item missing was a shaving mirror, although there is a big mirror in the bathroom. The maids cleaned our room when we were at breakfast which was a bonus, in a few hotels it has been our experience that they don't come until we are in the room. The maids were also very friendly saying hello when we met them in the corridor. The air conditioning at first was very poor, but once I got the hang of it, we got it down to 9.5C. There was open plan room in ours, which had a tv and sofa bed in it, with a separate air conditioning unit in the ceiling. The wi fi was very good as well in the room and public areas which enabled us to call locals about trips on WhatsApp. ||Reception were also very friendly and helpful. You have to use the room key to make the lift go to any floor. If you turn right out of the hotel, and go up the hill, a short way up is a Spar Supermarket which is useful if you only have bed and breakfast. The Supermarket is underground and massive! We stored food and drink in the fridge in the room, and used the Kettle to make coffee and tea. We also had drinks in the pool bar on the roof.||A great holiday and break from the household routine. A home from home with no need to do all the work! A lovely city to visit as well. Be sure to book a trip on a Tuk Tuk as it takes you into the Roman part of town and also the local...
Read moreBeautiful modern hotel. I’ll start with the spa and wellness side and this is where I started.
I arrived at 11 so was told I couldn’t check in even though I was told my room was ready... after wandering around the local area (there isn’t much to see locally unless you walk to the marina or go to the old city which is only a 5-8min drive anyway), I booked a massage and went to the spa. The massage was wonderful. Massage room like the rest of the hotel- pristine condition. I had the 60min aroma massage which was 350HRK (only 42.14GBP). I would say there wasn’t any aroma, scents or essential oils used though, it was just standard fragrance free oil but she did a great job so you might as well get the normal massage and save a few HRK. They also offer the usual beauty treatments; nails, waxing etc which I didn’t avail of. First lady at the desk was very nice but the second one not so.
The indoor pool area has a lot to offer. Swim, lounge, sauna, steam room, tropical shower (plays bird noises while you’re in the shower), jacuzzi etc and it has all been finished to a very high standard. The Finnish sauna was a personal favourite as it was so fresh and well maintained. Very spacious.
I opted for a standard double. Much larger than anticipated. 2 single beds pushed together, very clean and comfortable. Was a bit noisy at times as I was at the front of the hotel (room 115) overlooking the street. Hair dryer in room but no Iron. Minimal products but you don’t get soap or shampoos in bottles instead they’re in dispensers on the wall. Much better for the environment as less plastic used. Tea/coffee available in room. No milk sachets/pots though.
Dinner They don’t have a page of sides in their menu but they can provide chips. The portions are sizeable so a main alone or 2 courses should be enough. Tables around me were offered bread and olive oil. I had to ask for some however it came with my main so I didn’t eat it in the end.
Breakfast Usual buffet style. Usual choice. Loved the fact they had different freshly pressed juices including a “detox juice” mix.
Other The hotel also offers morning (6:30am) yoga on the rooftop on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I was hoping to go but I didn’t sleep well that night (not because of the hotel). Rooftop pool was always busy but this was to be expected as the weather was perfect. Given the size of the spa you’d expect it to be a bit bigger... I’m not a sun worshiper so this didn’t bother me but I saw people coming up and leaving to go to another hotel with bigger rooftop poor.
Excellent way to start to the week long trip. Service and guidance is hit and miss depending on who you have so I’ve...
Read moreStayed two night (booked by Riviera Travel, not us) after a lovely 7 day cruise up Adriatic coast. Hotel reception put just one receptionist for the arrival of 36 guests on a coach, so wasn't too impressed....no welcome to the hotel, just name, here's your key....and the silent... "next, go away please" feeling. We'd emailed the hotel [& Riviera Travel] weeks prior, to say it was our 33rd wedding anniversary on the second night, it would be great to have a room with a view, from floor 4 upwards. We got no acknowledgment and got a 1st floor room....looking at the car park at the back of the hotel. Other guests [now new cruise friends] were randomly given huge jacuzzi , lounge , balcony rooms but had not booked them, just luck. It sucked. The good bits; Spa, pool, steam / sauna / calm room and loungers are all very nice places to relax. The breakfast is great, the waitress in the mornings was excellent. The rooms are clean, well equipped, air conditioned. The weather wasn't good for a swim in the infinity rooftop pool sadly, but looked nice, albeit small area. The not so good, and the reason I would not book again, was the general staff attitude towards guests was "you are a pain in the butt, what do you want now". To give you specific, there were the two same evening dinner waiters for our stay. One, smiled, helpful, great. The other "Mr Grumpus" (we were on a table of 6]. The soup came with no sunflower seed topping as stated on the menu....ask waiter to produce some, he said "its how the chef sent if, walked off, ignored us for 15 mins. The main courses arrive, no parmesan cheese for the pasta dishes, he was asked for some, walked off, ignored us for 15 mins....my wife's main course was pork tenderloin medallions and all three pieces were raw inside. He took it away silently, returned when most of us had finished our main courses, but to the chef's credit, he said her meal would be free, so we accepted it, just a shame care, attention and service was provided in the first place. The hotel is a 30 min [not very pleasant walk from Split central] so if I were you, and you have a choice. BOOK ELSEWHERE, they don't deserve your hard...
