Split's Hidden Cliffside Gem: Restaurant Dvor 🌅🍽️

What an outstanding restaurant: from the location, to the service, to the food. Firstly, the location is absolutely beautiful with an incredible sea view (it's actually quite romantic in the evenings!). Secondly, the service was superb. Our lovely waiter was knowledgeable and patient with us, and explained every single ingredient on our plates. Thirdly...THE FOOD. The food is just marvellous and beautifully presented. We decided to have a three course meal as it was our last day in Split so why not? For starters we had the ceviche and the tuna cannellon...honestly, the ceviche was incredible. The fish was so delicate, it was an explosion of flavour. Then, as main meal, I had the paccheri with crab...at this point, I was already in heaven. That pasta was so gorgeous, honestly, the flavours were superb. My partner had the Linguine with squid ink and cuttlefish, again, superb. The squid ink sauce was so buttery and creamy, it was a joy for the palate! But the dessert...that stole show. I had the chocolate, hazelnut, marzipan and coffee mousse cake. Honestly? The most well spent 18€ of my life. I can't even describe the dessert I had, it's an experience. Yes, Dvor is expensive when compared to other restaurants in Split (which is the reason why we decided to leave it for last and conclude our amazing time in Split with a bang) however, the quality is outstanding and the food is brilliant. Dvor is now on my top 3 of my favourite restaurants in Split and would recommend a million times!

My fiancée and I had our last meal this evening in Split at this restaurant and we have gone out with a bang! Fantastic service from start to finish by our waiter. He explained every dish in detail by telling us how it was cooked and the ingredients used. I went for the tuna cannellon as my starter and it was absolutely delicious! Never eaten anything like this before and it really surprised me with the different flavours. I then went for the squid and cuttlefish linguini... wow... just wow! The sauce was nice and creamy. Wasn't at all too fishy either. One of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. Then the show stopper... dessert. I went for the white chocolate, coconut, mango, and lime choice. It was like eating mini white chocolate shell eggs with a delicious mango filling. Delicious! My fiancée absolutely loved ever dish as well so we couldn't have asked for a better last meal than this in Split before we head home to the UK tomorrow. Best meal of the entire trip! The bonus was that we were sat with a beautiful view of the sea and got to watch the sun set during our entire meal. Beautiful. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough if you are looking for a romantic experience with top class food and service!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE ! We reserved 2 weeks before arrival at 8:30, once arrives, they said people came before us so they couldn't keep our table... THEN WHY SHOULD WE RESERVE IF THE RULE IS FIRST ARRIVED FISRT SERVED??? Finally after 45 minutes they out us on the table I reserved (i specified in the email that it was a special night for us). We asked for the menu to a waiter he said "ok" but apparently he preffered go to the table with 10 girls to collect their addition; he could have gave us the menu before taking that long !! Finally, an other waiter came, then, they took our order at 9h45 and we had our appetizers at 10;15. The waiter told us that because of the covid, we have to leave at 11. the bring us the food at 10h25. we had 35 minutes to eat our dinner. The waiter appologies because of "the problem of communicaton between them" but it doesnt change the experience we had, we came at 8h30 when the restaurant was full, we left when it was fully empty. They didn"t even offer us something to drink while we were eating. This is by far, the worst experience I had, they shouldn't even deserve have 1 star. To be fair, the food was good, but the service is terrible. Note to the restaurant: please don't forget that going to a restaurant is an experience, it is not just eating food, it should be a pleasure to go there and share good moments and having a great service. Yours was terrible, terrible, 10 days has left since we came to your place, but still I couldn't forget. I have never been treated that way, even Mc donald treats its client better than you , you really...

Our recent experience at Restaurant Dvor in Split, Croatia left much to be desired. From start to finish, the evening was marred by several disappointments, overshadowing the few positives that were present.

As we eagerly shared the steak tartare as our appetizer, we were surprised to find that it deviated significantly from the traditional version. The unfamiliar twist did not resonate well with our palates, and unfortunately, the repercussions of this choice lingered long after we left the restaurant. Both of us ended up experiencing explosive diarrhea , and we couldn't help but attribute it to the questionable tartare.

While our main dishes offered a glimmer of hope, being well-cooked and flavourful, any hope for a redeeming dining experience quickly evaporated when we were greeted by a group of persistent wasps during our main course. This made it nearly impossible to focus on our meals. After bringing our concern to the attention of the staff, they kindly relocated us to a new table a short distance away. Unfortunately, this effort proved futile as the wasps found us again within minutes, leaving us frustrated and unable to enjoy the rest of our time at the restaurant.

It's disheartening to visit a restaurant that charges premium prices for an exceptional experience and walk away feeling so disappointed. We had high expectations for our evening at Restaurant Dvor, but sadly, those expectations were not met. While the friendly service provided some comfort, it couldn't make up for the overall letdown of...

❗️ To avoid - Horrendous service and ruined evening.

I am not the first person here to complain about it but I cannot emphasise how bad it was. It is very unfortunate that a place like this does not take the bad reviews into account and does something to address the issues they have with their personnel, which have been pointed out so many times as your can see from previous bad reviews.

Incredibly rude waiter who ruined our meal and our evening. When you go to a restaurant as Dvor aspires to be, you do not only pay for the food, you pay for the experience.

However, service is a huge part of that experience and you cannot enjoy the food, as good as it might be, if the service is bad. Both the waiter and the sommelier were horrible, treated us very rudely, with very little consideration, like they were doing us a favour by simply providing us with basic service.

When we asked to pay and provided feedback to the waiter about our bad experience he basically laughed us off, which was honestly unbelievable.

Some solace was provided by the manager who was considerate and eventually offered a refund for a dish we have not even been served properly. However, taking these measures does little to make up for a ruined evening and a ruined experience. It is truly a shame. I don’t think Dvor rises up to the reviews it has and the type of place it wants to be.

If you want a nice experience and a pleasant evening, go somewhere else, where perhaps the risk of finding a waiter intent on ruining your...
