We stayed here for one night, and I'm glad that it was only one night.||||Everything was fine initially - we had no problem communicating with the owner via email prior to our arrival, and check-in was fine. We arrived early in the morning via ferry, and while our room wasn't ready for check-in yet, the owner allowed us to leave our luggage and use her bathroom to change for the beach. While we were getting ready, she finished cleaning our room and checked us in. She provided us with towels for the beach, which were appreciated.||||The property is about halfway between the ferry port and the beach, but both were within walking distance (though walking from the port with our luggage was a bit exhausting because of the uphill walk). The room was small but clean.||||What unfortunately changed our impression from positive to negative, however, was her attitude towards us in the evening.||||We had the air conditioning on as we were preparing for bed as it was early September and still very hot outside. Aside from the heat, the room was also small and stuffy without the air conditioning on, and as it was early September with high temperatures, it seemed pretty normal to us to have the air conditioning on in the room (every single place we stayed at in coastal Croatia during this trip had the air conditioning on, as did restaurants). ||||However, my sister and I have very different temperature preferences - she tends to find it chilly when most people find it hot, especially at night when she's sleeping. Our room had the one bed, which we were sharing, and I found the blanket provided sufficient, while she preferred an extra blanket. There was no extra blanket in the room, so she simply asked the owner if she had an extra blanket. The owner snapped at her and said that she wouldn't need the blanket if we hadn't blasted the air conditioning in the room all day. This wasn't even true, as we had been at the beach all day except for a 15 minute break in the afternoon to change out of our swimwear after it had rained. We had turned off the air conditioning when we had left to go back out. Her statement that we had somehow been blasting the air conditioning all day was simply a lie. After snapping at my sister, the owner turned her back on her to make it clear that the conversation was over. ||||After such an experience, we didn't feel welcome at this guest house anymore, and when we checked out the next morning, we didn't even feel comfortable leaving our luggage with the owner for the day anymore even though that had been the original arrangement. Instead, we found a nice hostel close to the port which charged a reasonable sum to store our luggage for the day. We were happy to leave this property and not have to deal with this owner again.||||I've travelled quite a bit and stayed at many types of accommodations, and very rarely have I had to write a negative review on TripAdvisor because of a negative experience (you can see for yourself from looking at my TripAdvisor profile). However, I had to share this story because I have never experienced such a rude owner or staff member who would lie like that. Also, if you don't want guests to use air conditioning in the summer even when they're in the room, don't provide it.||||I would not recommend this guest...
Read moreGuest house Marija had a friendly hostess who was welcoming and allowed us to keep our bags in the house after checkout, which was super helpful as we only left the island later after check out. Hostess was super helpful and room had a lovely balcony and was a five to ten minute walk to beach and main town. The beach has a waterpark and activities for kids as well and beautiful swimming / snorkeling beaches. Also home of famous beach : zlatni rat. It's a 30 min taxi ride from the supetra port (ferry caught from split) , or an hour bus ride. If you share a taxi with others it's cheaper and they wait for you at the ferry. Guesthouse marija is just a fifteen minute walk to the ferry/catamaran , which can take you to other ports eg : jelsa,...
