We arrived at The Dome Beach Hotel & Resort on 23rd August. As soon as our taxi turned in towards the hotel you could see the hotel was tired and dated. Entering the reception area (23:45pm) we were greeted by a night porter with very little enthusiasm, he checked us in and we were each given a cheese & ham sandwich - they did not look appealing! We asked if there was somewhere that we could get a drink and directed to the bar. As we walked down it smelt like stale beer/old nightclub.. we asked for some bottled water and were told that it’s not possible. We were given tiny plastic cups filled with water to carry back to our rooms. Walking to the rooms it didn’t improve, the corridors very scruffy & rundown. We were absolutely gutted walking into the room. There was a gross leak from the fridge, hair in the bath/shower, what looked like blood down the door, damages on the balcony and the wardrobe was not fit for putting our clean clothes away in. The bed for the children was an old Z bed with the thinnest mattress- they had to be so careful getting on to it.. it tipped up on a few occasions on my 11 year old, causing him to hurt himself! In my parent’s bathroom they had ants.. absolutely disgusting and not what you expect. We appreciate the heat can attract the odd bug but this room clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. We got up for breakfast and by the time we’d seen the restaurant and quality of food we were so upset and really disappointed! We met up with our Jet2 rep straight away and asked to be relocated- we raised all our issues with her. She did her best to find an alternative but it wasn’t possible. The hotel staff offered to deep clean our rooms but that doesn’t alter the fact it was in such a rundown state! They then offered to relocate our rooms myself & my mum viewed the room but it was just as bad but in a worse position & overlooking a busy road. At this point we realised that we had no option but to stay put. Walking to our room we had to hold our breath as the foul smell from the bins that we backed on to was unbearable! We soon noticed that other guests at the hotel were also complaining and very disappointed. The food on offer was very bland, poorly labeled or not at all, chipped mugs, grubby glasses. We ended up eating out on a few occasions just to avoid going in there. We ate in the Japanese & Greek restaurants they were better than the main restaurant. The Italian food was ok- My mum paid the hotel to arrange a birthday cake for my son this particular evening and the staff were very kind and played ‘happy birthday’ music. Each morning it was hit & miss with the sun-beds by the pool. Many of them need replacing! People were entering the pool from the beach to use the facilities. We witnessed this on a few occasions. In fairness to the lifeguards they did clock this one day and eventually got the people to leave. Towels were 10€ each deposit but could only be changed every 3rd day. The pool bar was ok, fairly good friendly service. The evening entertainment was practically nonexistent. Two young girls who really didn’t look like they wanted to be there. One night in particular they attempted to get holiday makers playing games.. when they didn’t get the reaction they’d hoped for one of the girls said “Be boring I’m going to get paid anyway!” We heard from another family that on another evening the entertainer walked off mid act! Even in the evening we had to have drinks in the little plastic cups. Really not what you’d expect. I’d have to say the most shocking part of the holiday is when the sports animator (Dorka) suggested a game in the pool for all the children to play. Me & my boys (11 & 6) swam over to get involved. The aim of the game was to swim to the bottom of the pool and collect the item.. whoever has the most wins.. a free drink! All sounds ok until she started throwing knives from the restaurant into the pool!!! The children were stunned. Seriously is this acceptable?! The hotel is in a great position on the beach and could be lovely - after a...
Read moreOverall a nice hotel, but i wouldn’t call it 4 stars. I have stopped at a lot better 4* hotels abroad than this which offered much nicer experiences.
Food is adequate for the most part, not a huge amount of choice. What was out was tasty and of good quality, but mostly the same each night, there never seemed to be too much that differed unfortunately between each might. The 3 themed restaurants were lacking too. Just a set menu basically that comes out as sharing plates for the table. Other 4* hotels I’ve stayed at with themed restaurants have had LOTS of choice and offered a much higher class experience. However what can be said is all of the waiters / waitresses are VERY polite, attentive when needed but also don’t crowd over you whilst you are trying to enjoy your food, not a bad word can be said about them.
Pools were superb, nothing bad to say about those as they were kept clean and tidy by the maintenance staff. They are fairly warm, certainly not cold by any means but also after laying in the 35° heat for a few hours it would cool you off nicely. We mostly stayed around the kids pool side as we have a 3 year old and we liked that pool best with the sloping shallow end for him. But the main adult pool around the other side of the hotel was also just as good and featured a shallower end to it, with a small square shallow kids pool next to it.
The room…. Sadly this is where my main gripe comes. The room as a whole was poor, we specifically paid for a “family room” so that we had the shutter to partition the one bed off from the main side so that my 3 year old had his own space and wouldnt be able to hear other noises waking him up once he had gone to bed. The partition was broken in multiple places. It did not align up correctly with the lock end and i had to forcefully open it due to how badly it was falling off its roller system at the top which would then make a hell of a racket each morning and night. The wall paper decor was peeling off the walls in multiple places. The white cupboard sides were damaged and laminating in multiple places too. (See pictures). The adult main bed was fine however the bed for my 3 year old was just a sofa that had been made into a bed BUT it was bowed towards the end of it and it dipped in the middle width ways too, luckily our boy is only 3 years old and small so he slept sideways at the top on the sofa part or this bed would of been totally unacceptable!! Disgusting to find they thought that was acceptable to be honest - room number 145. (Another party in our group had a family room with a single bed in it as the spare bed so why did ours not have one? strange).
Reception staff, most were polite. However the older gentleman with grey hair was RUDE on more than 1 occasion towards us, he made me wait whilst he attended to someone else when i was clearly at reception first - a good 30 seconds before the others. He told me that i had to change my themed restaurant booking to another time due to our party size (12 people) about 6 hours before the booking even though nobody else was booked in at that time when i booked it and the person on reception when i booked it had no issue with it. So it only became an issue when someone else booked one of the other tables at the same time slot as me later on. But then he decided that i was the one who had to change my booking and not the smaller party who had booked in after me! After going back and forth with me for 5 minutes he backed down when he realised that we were one of the wedding parties at the hotel and our family had spend a LOT of money to have a wedding on site - he needs a lesson in customer service! Contrary to the elderly gentleman there was a young blonde lady on reception at times who was very polite, helped me with a few problems and answered any questions i had with a smile and friendly attitude - she needs a promotion.
Overall i would say we enjoyed our stay here, but i would not return to this hotel. I have stopped in far better for a...
Read moreExtremely Disappointing Stay at Dome Hotel and Resort
As a customer who recently stayed at the Dome Hotel and Resort, I cannot express enough my utter disappointment with the overall experience. From the moment I arrived until the day I left, it was abundantly clear that this establishment falls far below even the most basic expectations for a hotel and resort. Allow me to elaborate on the numerous factors that made this stay an absolute nightmare.
First and foremost, the quality of the food offered at the resort was abysmal. To begin with, the meals were consistently undercooked, leaving me and fellow guests dangerously susceptible to foodborne illnesses. Furthermore, the lack of variety and options in the menu left a lot to be desired. It was evident that no effort was made to cater to the different tastes and preferences of the guests. How can a hotel claim to provide top-notch service when it cannot even offer a decent meal?
The staff's behavior throughout my stay was nothing short of appalling. They exhibited rudeness and arrogance, showing no regard for customer satisfaction. It was deeply disheartening to be met with such hostility and lack of professionalism. Even worse, it became apparent that some of the staff members were involved in stealing guests' personal belongings. This level of dishonesty and breach of trust is simply unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any establishment.
Entertainment options were virtually non-existent at the Dome Hotel and Resort. The so-called "entertainment" consisted of a laptop and a couple of employees engrossed in their phones all night. This lackluster attempt at providing amusement to guests is nothing short of insulting and demonstrates a complete disregard for the guest experience.
Basic housekeeping standards were also severely lacking at this establishment. Despite the clear expectation for clean and fresh bedding, bed sheets were not changed daily, leaving guests to wonder about the cleanliness and hygiene of their accommodations. The discovery of blood stains on the sofas only served to reinforce the overall lack of cleanliness and maintenance in the rooms.
To add further insult to injury, the hotel shamelessly imposed exorbitant charges for basic amenities. The safety box, a standard inclusion in most hotels, was charged at an absurd price of 20 euros. Additionally, guests were required to pay a hefty fee of 30 euros for beach towels, and even worse, these towels were changed only every three days. Furthermore, the hotel had the audacity to charge for sun beds on weekends, making relaxation and enjoyment an expensive luxury.
Lastly, the absence of complimentary water bottles for all-inclusive guests is simply unconscionable. In a hotel and resort claiming to offer an all-inclusive experience, this type of nickel and diming left a sour taste in my mouth.
To summarize, my stay at the Dome Hotel and Resort was an absolute nightmare. The terrible food, rude staff, theft, lack of entertainment, disregard for cleanliness and hygiene, outrageous charges for basic amenities, and absence of complimentary water bottles make this place an absolute disaster. I strongly advise against making the mistake of choosing this hotel...
