We spent a week at Hotel Alisei from July 20-July 27. we stayed in a villa room, very spacious with an upstairs loft that has a king bed and full bathroom and a king bedroom downstairs with another full bath. The kitchen was stocked with anything we would have needed, the housekeeping staff cleaned every day. The large patio was great for relaxing in the evening. The daily breakfast buffet was amazing; made to order eggs, crepes and the best pancakes, fresh fruits, croissants, other baked goods and authentic Dominican breakfast cuisine as well as juice and coffee. When we arrived Saturday evening, the hotel, especially the beach bar was very busy but by the next day it felt like we had the place to ourselves and it picked up as the week went on. The pool bar was a great plus to other aparthotels we have stayed in the area. It's staffed daily from 11-7 and was never overcrowded. We also enjoyed the beach bar, you can order food from the onsite restaurant, we enjoyed a delicious dinner on the beach one of the nights. The staff was always so nice and responsive to any requests and gave very helpful recommendations. The hotel grounds are very well kept, every day we say staff tending to the landscaping, pool, and common areas. The hotel is located on Playa Las Ballenas, one of the most beautiful beaches. The hotel is in a great location, a very short walk away is a small market or if you have a vehicle or ATV you can go further into town to one of the larger supermarkets. There are several beach bars and restaurants in either direction along the road, the area is very safe and walkable. There is also a Dominican version of Uber Eats, Komida, if you want to order in. Alisei is close to some great nightlife, Mosquito Art Bar and Rooftop bar is a short walk and Etno which has a great Latin night is not far. We are already planning...
Read moreI have been reticent to write a review of Hotel Alisei for some time mostly because I have loved that place and spent many a great visits there.
However, last visit, in March 2022, I was saddened by the addition of the beach bar. What used to be a nice quiet beach/resort is now marred by having a beach bar with loud music. Some people might think this is great, but to me, I valued the serenity of going there. There are so many resorts with loud music, they are a dime a dozen. We used to marvel about how great the beach was there as it was so serene - in today's noisy world, this was what we loved.
Last time we stayed, the music was so vibrating, that it rocked our room, even during the day and even if it wasn't that loud. The room and porch literally vibrated so much that we could record it on our phones. On certain nights, it was simply unbearable and made me feel like I was in Cancun.
I'm not criticizing them for what they are doing, as business owners, that is their right. However, I very very sadly won't be staying there again. My husband and I are bummed, as we had such great vacations there before that time. We were sort of confused as the demographic of people who stay at the hotel don't match the beach bar patrons. So - I guess they need to decide who they are serving.
If the beach bar were ever to close at night - I would be there again in a heartbeat.
It's a beautiful place with beautiful landscaping - the rooms aren't high end, but they have a nice cozy vibe. The staff is warm and welcoming, and we always loved the breakfast at the main restaurant.
Best of luck to Hotel Alise - I am sorry to leave a negative review, but I wish...
Read moreAs someone else said in the reference, this hotel is perfect fit if you are looking for something in between big hotel resort and airbnb. It’s maybe a bit overpriced but has everything you need including - pool, all the kitchen tools in the apartment, drinkable water in the room and very good room service.
The hotel is well located very close to the beach. Which means on the other side you can hear music from beach bar when there’s a disco..
What I didn’t like the most was the service of receptionists. We asked about excursions they offer and the offered price was way too much, of 50 USD/person higher than the price of all the agencies in town!! We kindly refused and came to our room where we received immediate call from reception offering suddenly the same trip 30 USD cheaper! But we didn’t take this opportunity neither.
So my advice is, don’t take any excursions directly in the hotel! Try agencies directly in town as there is plenty of them and you save a...
