Hacienda Samana Bay Hotel & Residences — Hotel in Samana

What an amazing place! I rented a Village at Hotel Hacienda Samana Bay and the place was impecable. The structure is contemporary and beautiful. The service was excellent. The pools are beautifully designed to merge the view with the mesmerizing bay. The bar staff is super cool and has a great personality. I would give a 5 stars to this hotel, however my experience at the restaurant killed my vibe early in the morning. The waiter (Ariel) had a horrible attitude and his energy ruined my breakfast, which i spent over $100. In a nut shell, I was the first one to arrive to the restaurant with my family at 8:30am and 3 other families arrived after us. They all had coffee on their table and napkins immediately. I had to call the waiter attention to ask him for napkins. He seemed to have issue receiving instructions regardless how nicely we'd ask. He added no syrup on my Children's pancakes, my Spanish omelet was the last dish to be served, I had to ask for a jar of cold water and he was expecting a tip. I wanted to request a supervisor, but i wasn't spending more time in that environment. I think it would be beneficial if the administration complete a biopsychosocial assessment to job applicants before hiring, as some individuals do not fit to work in this type of business. Sadly, Ariel seems to strugle with self-esteem and confidence needs among others and that affects the customer's stay. I would suggest the hotel to retrain Ariel, as I know these individuals are trying to make a living, but sometimes are unable to cope/manage any psychological/emotional need, so maybe Ariel may benefit from support and retraining. If you want to have a five stars rated experience, have breakfast somewhere else or...

I went in February to enjoy time with family and unfortunately had to stay almost a week, as reservations were done. When we arrived the room smelled like a weird mildew smell, the housekeeper does not throughly clean and only made the bed, occasionally. The TV did not work and I called multiple times to repair, they finally came up to address the issue and literally looked at the TV and stated they could not fix the issue or provide any accommodations. The breakfast and the food in the restaurant were disgusting. I went to the pool area to enjoy some time with my toddler and there was a staff member who was a creep and kept making a pass or saying inappropriate things. I advised him i was married and with child and still he proceeded to be very inappropriate until responded negatively and threatened to call my husband to stop his harassment. After that I felt super uncomfortable for the rest of my stay and stayed mostly in my room with no internet or television. They also rent out rooms on airbnb and charge different prices for airbnb and hotel rooms, which I felt robbed as we paid double the price than what the airbnb website offered. Needless to say, you are better off seeking an airbnb not associated with this hotel and find another hotel with better view, with better competent staff. You will even find delicious food you walk a few minutes down the street, than risking food poisoning...

The hotel was wonderful. We loved it but as we checked out they said we had a balance which we knew we had not as we paid for any drinks, and supper with cash. The bartender on the 6th floor would ask our room number but we paid our balance with cash. Do Not do what we did. Do Not put your room number off you plan on paying cash before you leave. I tried to explain we would never not pay for 5 beers or try to scam our way out of it especially all the money we had spent too stay there and everything we spent on Samana ... We just paid it. I think that was a terrible mistake by the manager of the hotel that day. Not good business. We are from the States and have an apartment in Boca Chica. We are here for 3 months. I would never be dis honest. We want to go back to Samana next year but staying at this hotel put a very bad taste on my mouth...
