I stayed here in May 2023 for five nights and had a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend. The staff is very accommodating and service is exceptional. They will help with anything that you need including finding a taxi or finding a place to go, handing you an umbrella, bring things to your room. The breakfast is offered every morning and is wonderful with lots of options including eggs, sausages, fruits, breads, yogurt, fresh fruit juices. Location is phenomenal, right in the center of cuenca. We felt safe the entire time. You can walk to the cities Center Square in less than 5 minutes. Lots of restaurants around and shops. Taxis difficult to get but not a function of the hotel. The hotel aesthetic and style is the highlight of the hotel. It is absolutely gorgeous. The entryway is filled with beautiful plants and lights and is in a traditional Cuenca style. They offer high-end skin products in your room, and you have access to Lavazza machine. My room had Windows which were easily able to open for ventilation, and the staff brought a fan of stairs for my use.
Be aware that there is no elevator. Rooms are on Floors two and three. Staff brought luggage up to our room and back down when it was time to check out. Also be aware there's no air conditioning, however the weather in Cuenca...
Read moreThis is a wonderful hotel in the heart of the beautiful old city. This is a tourists hotel really, a classic old colonial building with high ceilings and an atmospheric covered courtyard in the centre with the rooms around it, (ours was on the first floor balcony. This isn't a standard chain hotel with gym / pool/ business lounge and soulless corridors with hundreds of rooms. Every room here is different and the walkways are littered with various antique objects. |The room itself was well appointed although the beds were a bit soft for us, probably in need of some mattress replacements. The central courtyard is used as a restaurant which looked very good - although we ate elsewhere, as much to explore the city as anything else. Breakfast is served in a small restaurant ajoining the hotel - It would be nice to have it in the main courtyard but I suspect the noise from early guests would disturb those still sleeping. Breakfast was good but with a fairly limited selection. |We had a couple of glasses of wine in the courtyard in the evening before bed, house wine glasses wasn't obvious on the menu and we were a little concerned at what the bill would be, but it was fine. |The hotel is quite expensive - especially compared to other options in the city but I felt it was...
Read moreA beautiful colonial building nicely decorated and with a lot of charm.|But the room we had was rather small.|Staff is nice and speaks English but for some reason, there is a lot of misunderstanding.|There is tea and coffee in the room & in the inner courtyard, however, we stayed 3 nights and they never refilled the coffee in our room. |Chocolate is left in the room on the first day as well as a personalised note from the manager. |You need to ask a member of staff for water as there is no water dispenser. |Breakfast is a buffet (only place we have had that during our stay in Ecuador) with the usual (juices, fruits, yoghurts, cereal, bread & pastries) + some hot foods with some Ecuadorian specialties such as lapingachos or mote. The eggs are in the hot section in the form of either poached, scrambled, mixed in mote, etc. These hot meals are only ok. There are also some slices of ham, cheese and tomatoes. Coffee is very nice. |The hotel recommended and booked us a guide to go to El Cajas Park for 70$ who in fact was only a driver who knew nothing about the area, did not know his way round and could not speak English. We managed to lower the price to 40$ after a...
