I feel like I had to say something although I did not originally book with this hotel. I booked four nights with a hotel called New Hostgram. Due to my flight delay into Cairo, I did not get the room I had booked online. My quad bed room with balcony became a tiny one bed room. After informing the hotel owner, he said that for nights 3 and 4 I would be upgraded to a bigger room but at a sister hotel...and this is where it gets dreadful. I was transferred to Hotel Velvet ..and immediately I had a bad feeling..everything seems so unappealing starting from the reception...if you can call it a reception desk...like things are just put together in a day. When I saw my room, I was quite frustrated. There was no wifi reception anywhere in the room..I guess it because the room is at the end of the hall way. Every where is dusty and quite dirty..the bed sheets didn't even look clean..there where hair on there as if some one had just slept in it..bath room was as basic as it can be...there is nothing that suggest this place is a 3 star hotel as it stated online..and now looking back..all their photos are clearly just taken just to fool people. I ended up just going to Giza earlier ..called up my booking there and ask them if they have room available right away and got out of this dumpster. This place looks like a more like a bad hostel than a hotel. Please do yourself a favour, book somewhere else..its not like they are THAT cheap ..there are plenty of...
Read moreThe Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Avoid at All Costs!”
This hotel is an absolute disaster from the moment you walk in. The entrance is filthy and reeks of neglect. There’s a lift in the building, but guess what? It’s not even for hotel guests! Instead, you’re forced to take the most terrifying, broken, and uneven stairs imaginable. For a weary traveler, this is a nightmare. I had to haul all my luggage up these dangerous stairs myself because there was no one to help—not a single staff member offered assistance.
The staff is the worst part of this entire nightmare. The receptionist looks and acts like a gangster. He initially agreed to one price for my stay but demanded more money when I checked out. When I refused, another thug-like staff member threatened to call the police, blaming the “mistake” on someone else. The level of rudeness and intimidation was shocking. This is not a hotel; it’s a trap run by unprofessional, deceitful people.
The room itself was disgusting. The washroom lid was broken, water stayed on the floor, and there was a constant foul smell. The fridge didn’t work, and to top it off, there was a terrible odor inside it. The so-called “complimentary” coffee sachets were later charged at checkout—a complete scam!
This place is beyond horrible—it’s unsafe, unsanitary, and run by people who seem to specialize in scamming and intimidating guests. Avoid this hotel like the plague. I wouldn’t wish this experience on...
Read moreThere is no elevator (lift) as in the pictures, so we have to bring luggages up to 2nd floor. When we ask for help, they said, there is no one to help. That's okay. If you travel with big, heavy luggages please avoid. The lift operates from 1st floor to top floor only.
The lady in the reception ask for more money for 'tax', so we paid more than offered in apps. She asked us to cancel the booking, and pay by cash in USD instead.
The weren't enough towels for 3 of us. Need to ask. No toiletries, toilet paper (need to ask), no free bottle water (u have to buy).
My friend took 1 bottle water, but the lady insist that we actually took 2 instead. We should have took a picture before.
Breakfast did not start before 8 am I guess because no one is around when we go check at kitchen, so we left for a cafe nearby.
Location is okay but there will be non-stop noise at night. Light sleepers need to...
