El Abd Pastry — Restaurant in Cairo

Okay, how do i describe this place? Hmm, maybe Hell on earth!! I am a tourist visiting Egypt for the first time. I stayed in a nearby hotel and started to crave some cakes and pastries. I look on Google Maps and find this place easily. Plus the many reviews made it look like it's a MUST try place. I walk for about 5 minutes then i arrive at my destination. I enter the store and it's crowded with people. So, I'm thinking this place must have an exceptional service and amazing products. Well, I was disappointed 😂. I go to the cake section and i see 3 employees standing there, one of them said hi to me, then he proceeded to ask where i was from, i smiled and told him I'm from Egypt, we both laughed. Now you would expect him to say, welcome how may I assist you or help you! But nope, he walks away to his 2 other friends and they start talking with each other! I stood there looking at the slices of cakes for about 3 minutes, then a customer approached and started looking as well. Within seconds one of the employees takes out a box and says which ones would you like, to the other customer who came after me! I'm shooketh ofc! Just stood there confused, like am i invisible to these baboons? Anyhow. I opened my google maps and typed " pastries " and another place shows up called Etoile. I leave El Abd and arrive at Etoile in 2 minutes or less. As soon as i enter i go straight to Basbosa and sweets section, before i arrive i am greeted by a friendly associate with a smile and says How may i be at your service? I said let me have a kilo of zalabya, then went to the cakes section, an associate was helping a customer before me. I waited less than a minute, the associate finished with the customer and quickly came to me asking how may i help you, what would you like? I tell him what i want then he boxes it for me. I happily leave with my pastries. The conclusion is: El Abd is an overrated, obnoxious place for sloppy people who have no idea of what customer service is. I am so glad I didn't spend a penny there. Foreigners DONT BE FOOLED BY MANY REVIEWS, EVEN, PLACES WITH LESS REVIEWS ARE FAR SUPERIOR THAN THIS...

Truly very good value for money... I'm in love with El-Abd patisserie, from a long time ago I've been trying lots and lots of products and it never failed me... Quality always stayed the same if not increased, very good and affordable prices when compared with competitors. The only disadvantage that it is always very crowded. Highly recommended products: western and eastern sweets, the ice cream corner also is amazing! I can not pass by without buying anything from them. A place that ease the crowding of capital Cairo.
