Carlton Roof Garden — Local services in Cairo

Lovely rooftop cafe lounge/bar. Be aware that breakfast is served until 11am and then the kitchen does not prepare food from the menu until 3pm. There are several signs about that inform you of the 100egp minimum spend per person. We went for lunch and had the Caesar salad and 150g burger, both were very good but the salad had little chicken. Miester Max was lovely and cold and 100egp after tax and service. The menu looks reasonably priced for the venue, which is well kept and peaceful. We were the only people there on a Friday afternoon. The whole place has a lovely feel about it, even the old dark wood reception of the hotel downstairs, has it's charm. There is an old piano and a billiards table inside. The toilets are well kept and very clean. Background music is good, which is hard to find in Egypt, normally it is far too loud but here it was perfect. I used to love this place. This was the first time to come here in a couple of years, and I was excited to go there again with my wife on my birthday. What happened? Reservation cancelled without notice, for being late for 20 mins on a Thursday night in downtown Cairo, gaslighting us into believing it's our fault that they're seating 10 people on separate tables, saying that we didn't choose tables and they have the right to seat us wherever they see fit. After a lot of hassle, we agreed to be seated, but then came the cherry on the top: taking a photo with my wife holding hands on my birthday IS FORBIDDEN! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We had the worst experience, i reserved a table for 9 people at 9 pm for my husband's birthday, i arrived at 9:22 pm just to find out that there's no table for us, they gave our table to another group because we're late 20 mins, they didn't tell us a time frame to cancel the reservation, then he offered 2 separate tables, then he tried to gaslight me and told me that i reserved a high table, his name was mr Amr Ezzat, the manager( I don't know how) then when we said that we are going to accept the separate tables but we will never come here again he told us to leave, i tried to handle the situation to save the night and we stayed for 10 mins before he comes to my husband and ask him not to touch me because people are looking, they ruined our day, embarrassed us and...
