I spent one night at Kafana Guesthouse as part of my two-weeks trip around Egypt. I was travelling with my parents that are not experienced travellers outside Europe and we all three had the best time there. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We spent there nearly two days as we did an early check in and we stuck around the day after. Despite the fact that our plan at first was going to have the place just to sleep and move around, we stayed there most of the time just relaxing, contemplating a very special place and enjoying Kafana's and Wael's company. I am an introvert myself and I not always very comfortable in guesthouses because of the presence of others, etc but this was very far from that. They are the coolest, the most kind and most helpful people and you really enjoy their company (owners and staff). I will def be back as I live in Egypt. Getting to Aswan city is not difficult and being in the west side of the island is so good to avoid the hustle of the city. It is very peaceful and you do not need a busy program for the time you spend there, you can just sit there and enjoy the view, the company, the food, the atmosphere. On top of that, they have many contacts not just in Aswan but around the country so they can organise every activity/trip, etc for you but they are just there in case you need it, they are not like in other places that they keep offering you things to do to get extra cash (very legit) but it is not the case at Kafana’s and that for me was...
Read moreI stayed at kafana's for 3 nights and I wish I could of been longer , after braving the craziness that was cario for 6 days it was perfect spot to stop and unwind at this hidden slice of paradise. Kafana orgainse a water taxi to bring me to his place and greeted me on arrival with welcome drink. Kafana and his staff went the extra mile to ensure that I felt like their place was a second home , kafana is more concerned with ensuring his guest are having the best time possible time then anything else. He helpped orgainse a driver to abu simbel and is always available by whatsapp to answer any questions.
The rooms are simple yet all you need with air-conditioning for those that have a aversion to heat. And with only 2 room currently its means kafana and his staff have time to focus on you, providing that extra personal touch
Also the view , nestled on the east side of elephantine Island its away from the the hussle and bussle of aswan city right on the Nile providing one of if not the best sunset I have ever seen. No better way to end the day with a beer watching the sunset.
I can't wait to come back...
Read moreFirst of all, let me get this straight, I absolutely don't think that kafana Geust House deserves 4.9 stars. Me and my family went there for lunch. We had been staying in King Mena Guest House and came over here. We ordered 2 tagine chicken, 1 tagine camel meat and 1 fried chicken. The thing that came the most badly was the fried chicken. My 11-year old son ordered and let me just say it wasn't the best. It came cooked not fried and it came only in 1 piece. I thought it would come as 3 pieces or whatever but it came only 1. In addition to this, the chicken contained blood which is why i gave 2 stars for service, because it wasn't greatly washed. Now, my son's tummy is hurting and i hope this chicken didn't contain salomonnela. Really don't reccomend going to this place. Also the food was great but not amazing, espicially the rice. The only great thing good that came out of this is the view, which was amazingly beautiful, looking at the nile. And again, don't go to that place until you have got your salomonnela...
