We arrived around 930pm and werenât greeted with the warmest welcome. Our holiday provider messed up our room but reception sorted it and we paid the additional cost for a family room. Upon arriving at the room we found a lizard running around. Completely understand this is not anything that can be helped. We tried to call reception however the phone in the room wasnât working. I went back over to reception and they sent 2 men with a stick and an empty water bottle stuck on the end and splatted the lizard across the ceiling (right above where I was lying) and left. Leaving the guts and blood smeared all over the ceiling. After the guys had left we started to get showered and sorted out to find that the room had not been cleaned after the previous occupants. There was toothpaste in the sink, dust everywhere, hand prints on the mirrors, and shampoo on the shower screen. The only thing that appeared to have been done was the beds changed. I went back to the reception at which point they moved us to another room that was also not cleaned but the housekeeping cleaned for us prior to us moving in.
The hotel has had a refurb in the last few years however there are plaster marks absolutely everywhere on the floors leaving things looking grubby. Once the room was cleaned they checked the phone to find that yet again it didnât work. This was replaced and we were left. The next morning we were getting ready for a day at the pool when the air con wasnât working in our room. There was an error on the system. This took the hotel 2 days to fix. Mid-holiday the maintenance man came into our room un-announced and put up a porcelain shelf inside the shower and left all the shards from the tiles inside the shower which I trod on and had to clear up. After 1 week our beds had not been changed and we had to ask at reception for this to be done. We were told by the manager that they are supposed to be done every day. They definitely arenât!!!
We found the staff was mixed between being super helpful and super miserable. Mahmood at the reception bar was so lovely, so friendly, and super helpful. There was also a really funny bartender (didnât get his name) who would laugh and joke with us all the time and a shorter waiter who tried really hard. The waiters in the restaurant were really friendly and efficient and worked so hard, always making us feel welcome at every opportunity, assisting us with carrying drinks and moving tables so we could all sit together. Mammal on the slides was by far the nicest of the slide guys however 90% of them were friendly. The slides were by far the best weâve experienced in any hotel and are well-maintained.
The waiters at the burger shack and bar on that side were so rude and moody. The slush was rarely ready. However, the burgers, hot dogs, and chips were amazing and a really good quality. The ice creams were really tasty only negative is I wish there were bigger. My daughter went to get a milkshake which was given to her in a shot cup not quite what is advertised but it was tasty none the less.
We were told upon arrival that we could extend our room upon check out due to the late checkout and had to book 24 hours previous at a cost of ÂŁ55. I approached reception within the suggested time slot to be told no there was no availability and had to check out by lunchtime. My friend who was also staying at the resort went up to reception 20mins later and they extended her room. Clearly it was an inconvenience to book us. The pool area was not well maintained, the floors were not mopped, glasses were rarely collected, and nowhere to put dirty glasses. Other areas of the hotel had white racks where you could put dirty glasses. In two weeks a guy walked past 4 times with the glass collection basket and didnât collect one glass. On day one someone (not in our party) dropped a piece of banana on the floor near the outdoor eating area. By day 14 the banana was still there and had rotted.
I wouldnât come back to this hotel and certainly wouldnât...
Read moreGoodness this place seems very marmite from all the reviews that I have read, and I do believe that people write broadly honest reviews so I can see how people can be confused by such differing reviews. I think this place offers broadly value for money and I will explain why. We took our (older) children 20 and 22 we had three swim up rooms when booking have a look at the coalst of extra rooms as it only cost an extra £150 for the kids to have a room each rather than share. The resort has loads of pools and plenty of places to eat and drink. The rooms we had were fine big and cleaned each day and anything that you needed doing would be done by the very charming and helpful guy looking after us ( all our rooms were together pretty much) a theme will run through this and that is tipping we tipped the room guy early and all of us got the obligatory towel swans and rooms dressed nicely. The bars are fine, it's worth taking insulated cups bottles with you to keep drinks cold. Tipping early in your stay gets great results we never generally queued as our friendly (tipped) bar staff sent us back to our sunbeds and the drinks were delivered, or just arrived without asking. Lobby bar is a nice cool place to relax and again very nice staff up there. Restaurants.... ( You have to remember this is a budget hotel and think about what you paid to stay there) I have to go along with "you won't go hungry" the meats at the BBQ are fab ( if you like grilled meats) the vegetables and salads are not the greatest to be honest we've been to Egypt north Africa several times and this is the first time north Africa cuisine hasn't been celebrated or promoted there were limited local dishes but if you didn't get in early they would be very little left so enough to eat but don't get excited. The ala carte restaurant ( from my perspective) were pretty poor. We didn't finish our meal in the Chinese and the mexican was very average. The teppanyaki was a good evening we shared the grill with a lovely Egyptian family and had a great time a really good show by the chef but again the food was not of a great standard but we weren't paying for a 5 star teppanyaki standard restaurant. The drinks offering was pretty standard all inclusive at this price range but all drinks were made with a smile and warmth. We didn't engage with the entertainment very much but they did try to entertain. We were aware of people who got ill I can't comment on how or why but people were in a bit of distress from stomach issues. I can only speak for myself and I had no issues I always feel at buffets, which most of the food is here you are always up against people who may not be well and my not have the most hygienic standards after using the toilet so just think about using serving spoons etc and perhaps have hand sanitizer with you. I really don't think the food is the cause for the illness you see and read about. I recommend getting out and about the people are amazing and we felt very safe out and about. Top tips: really nice food I recommend going to : La Catina and Nubian sky the marina has great places to eat. Tip early in your stay it really helps with getting good service. Choose a pool area you like then tip the pool guy who works that area after a couple of days we had our beds ready for us when we went out to sunbathe. Reception staff are very confident and have great English however they did try to move is from. 3 swim up rooms to family rooms as they were busy but just being strong and standing your ground works and we ended up with the rooms we had booked, I have read where people have been offered rooms they haven't booked so I think it's something they may try. The laundry service is efficient and cheap so get your clothes washed, dried and ironed before you travel home. Go open minded and remember what you paid it is cheap and cheerful, there are some great places to eat and drink in the marina,. Also you are pretty much...
Read moreSummary: A delightful large hotel resort and aqua park situated inland near the south boundary of Hurghada. A fantastic location for a super family holiday (2 adults +2 kids aged 8 & 11). We have lots of fond memories from our 11-night stay at Titanic Resort & Aqua Park over Xmas and New Year (Dec 2018 to Jan 2019).
Accommodation: We had a 'family apartment with pool view'. Which comprises a two bedroom unit with one shared large shower room between the bedrooms. One room, which you enter through, has two generous singles and the other a massive super king bed with balcony looking over the pools. Our room was on the 2nd floor. One of the two wings of the hotel has balconies which get the sun throughout the whole day. The accommodation was clean and tidy. However, it is beginning to look a little tired. The shower is in an enormous space. There is no bath. There is a puny hairdryer. Rooms are immaculately tidied and cleaned daily by a friendly dedicated cleaner, and towels were changed frequently/daily. Lots of fresh bottled water is provided daily. We noted lots of lovely personal touches and attention to details by the cleaner carrying out his duties.
Pool: The pool complex is enormous and exceeded our expectations. You really are spoiled with the number of features and that's before one even gets to the Aqua Park at the rear of the site - which in itself exceeded our expectations with its some 13 dedicated slides of varying intensity. There is an additional paddling pool, which is covered, for tiny ones. The toilets at pool side are abundant and very clean. Sun loungers are available for grabbing at 08:00 but are not pounced on immediately by eager guests. Rather, there are plenty available for everyone and some lovely spots to choose from depending on how much interaction you are after. The pools open proper at 10:00. Life guards (recreation team) are visible and dedicated throughout the day. Pool rules are there but a generally sensible and flexible approach to their implementation is adopted by the team. That's really appreciated with younger kids, as technically our youngest wasn't able to enjoy the slides. However, he's a good swimmer and was able to ride them all safely with their approval and without our concern.
Drinks: The local beer, is assumed to be either Egyptian Pirioni or Egyptian Stella. Like their European namesakes they are agreeable enough but the glasses they are served in are quite small. One also wishes the beer was on a self-serve tap at the pool bar and restaurant. The usual selection of basic spirits and mixers are available from behind the all bars. There are a number of classic 'hotel cocktails' available. Branded fizzy pop and fruit drinks are similarly served all day. There are self-service coffee machines at all bars. Coffee isn't great though, and gets served with an undesirably big head of crema.
Food: The food appears to be essentially on a two week rotation with enough variety to not exhaust our appetite/boredom over our stay. In our experience of all-inclusive, the standard is very high. You can eat from the grill with freshly cooked meat dishes every lunch and dinner. Try the fetter (oriental pies) which are freshly handmade every few days expertedly by Somia while you wait. There is loads of fresh salad and dishes are quickly replenished when low. However, your plates are cleared far too quickly by overly eager staff members. Sometimes it's nicer to be left alone. There isn't always chips available, which is refreshing in itself! And thankfully there wasn't a chicken nugget in sight! Unfortunately, desserts are quite poor and not to our taste generally - just too spongy and creamy. It's clear bread is held in high regard and is often used to make interested and entertaining displays and even effigies.
Staff: The hotel staff are almost exclusively male. There are no shortage of them and they are all abundantly friendly, helpful and welcoming...
