As I already told your guest relation officer (or something like that) at the "captain's dinner": Overall nice enough to stay there, if I'd like to do another holiday like this (mostly doing nothing but enjoy beach and pool) I'd probably return, as I know the shortcomings and know I may live with them.||the good:|1) For one person, room's more then big enough and well (if old, was in a not jet renovated room) equipped. For two probably the same. For a third, I wouldn't trust the fold out bed. If the fold out is replaced by a bunk bed (i.e. family room) only good for small children.|2) Safe working and easy to handle|3) Bathroom also more than big enough, with toilet, bidet, (smallish) bath tube, that is replaced by a look-into-the-bedroom-shower in newer rooms. I prefer the tube.|4) Cleaning/restocking worked well, if a little late (most days during lunch) but if you know you may work with it.|5) Nice, big, well maintained grounds|6) A pool for every taste, slides, kids, toddlers, quiet, ...|7) 8 out of 10 a la cart restaurants free of charge, just have to be booked the evening before, worked well, there was no evening I didn't get an a la cart if I wanted one.|8) Over all, food is eatable, buffet and a la cart, you'll find something and don't stay hungry.|9) Service is working fine. Yes, there are a lot of tip boxes around, but I don't think tips given (or not) influenced the service provided.|10) Drinks strong enough (there are a lot of Russians there, so ...) and tasty, if a bit simple decorated.|11) Both Cleopatra Bazar and Senzo Mall in walking distance for any needs not provided on the grounds.|12) Child friendly, nice slide pool, toddler pool with it's own small slides, child club facilities looked well maintained from the outside.||the bad:|1) Hangers in the room (as in many hotels) seem to be a rare, expensive commodity. 6 for 2 wardrobes are enough for me, but not a family?|2) A telephone next to the loo is ... strange. Maybe for emergency calls if Lock myself in?|3) TV big and working well, but more then half of the channels not connected, channel chart in room useless and remote only up/down, no direct channel number entry is frustrating.|4) 30€ for a lost beach towel/beach towel cart looming over your head is a bit frustrating.|5) Waaaay out of town, so you'll need a taxi for Marina, Shereton Street, Old Town and anywhere else.|6) Taxi desk in lobby way overpriced and tries to deceive customers by quoting prices in GBP, small currency sign, while anything else in town is quoted in EGP, $US or €|7) I had the impression that at some pools, the were WAY more sunbeds blocked by towels then people in the pool.|8) Grounds are HUGE, so you will be in for a walk either to the main restaurant, the beach or both|9) Food in a la cart restaurants between mäh and nice, don't expect any 5 star (or any star, or simple fine dining) experience.|10) Main (buffet) restaurants are HUGE, have to cater to many different tastes and many people at the same time, so it's like a (well stocked, well financed) cantina, you'll get fed, but don't expect a culinary experience.|11) No hot pool/whirlpool available||the ugly:|1) nothing||Summary:|If you expect anything like a European 5 star experience, you're in for a big (bad) surprise, if you're looking for a decent trouble free family vacation in a working holiday...

We recently stayed at Sunrise Garden Beach Resort and overall had a really enjoyable time. The resort is very well kept, cleaned regularly, and feels modern and fresh. Our room was lovely, spacious, and well-maintained throughout the stay.
While the main pool at Sunrise Garden is on the smaller side and the swim-up bar wasn't the best, we were pleased to find that the neighbouring sister hotel, Sunrise Mamlouk (connected within the same resort), had a much larger pool with a fantastic swim-up bar. We ended up spending most of our pool time there, and it made a big difference.
The beach, however, was a bit of a letdown. The sand wasn’t soft, and the water was quite murky compared to other resorts we’ve visited in the area — definitely not a highlight.
Food-wise, I’d say it started off decent, especially by all-inclusive standards. However, as the week went on, it became quite repetitive. Breakfast and lunch were exactly the same each day, and themed dinners like seafood night lacked options for guests who don't like seafood. That said, I have to give special credit to the on-site Indian restaurant — the food there was fantastic and a real standout.
Entertainment at Garden Beach was one of the weaker aspects of the stay. The entertainment team felt overly pushy at times, and we had a particularly uncomfortable incident where a female team member began to harass my partner for not laughing at her jokes — definitely not the kind of atmosphere you want when trying to relax. Thankfully, over at Mamlouk the entertainment was much better. The team there were fun, engaging, and most importantly, respectful.
Drinks throughout the resort were surprisingly good — they didn’t skimp on the alcohol, and the bartenders were always generous and cheerful. A huge shoutout to Diaa and Mohamed Hamido at the Mamlouk pool bar — they were incredibly friendly, made brilliant drinks, and clearly take pride in what they do. I also want to thank the cleaner for rooms 10301 & 10302, who kept everything spotless every day with a smile (sorry we didn’t catch your name!).
Reception staff were also great — they quickly moved us to a different room when we had a crying baby next door without any fuss.
Important note for English travellers: unfortunately, the airport experience when leaving really soured the end of our trip. I was singled out at Hurghada Airport after stating I was English, made to throw away food and water that all other travellers (including my Romanian companions) were allowed to keep, and then pressured into writing unnecessary personal information. To make matters worse, I was asked for a tip by one of the airport staff. It felt very targeted and inappropriate — a stark contrast to the warm hospitality inside the resort.
Final thoughts: Despite the issues outside of the resort, I would still recommend Sunrise Garden Beach Resort to anyone looking for a good-value all-inclusive holiday. The staff inside the resort are incredibly friendly, the facilities are well-maintained, and you get great value for money. Just be mindful if you're English, as unfortunately it seems like some people outside the resort may try to...
Read moreWe had a fab 1 week stay at sunrise, given a room in block 1 right by the main restaurant overlooking the slides at the back.||This hotel is absolutely spotless and the staff are all so friendly and willing to help. ||Room was cleaned daily by a lovely young g guy who always said hello. |The room was spacious and had everything you need, my only request would be a summer sheet or blanket as the quilt was too much for summer and the air con was too loud to leave on overnight.||All the pools were nice but we preferred the quiet pool, this had a lovely swim up bar and Ali the lifeguard was great at keeping it tidy and everyone just chilled there.||Food was good in the buffet restaurant, plenty choice and I liked that 2 of the other restaurant you could go for lunch and chose off a menu burgers, sandwich, pizza etc. the Egyptian restaurant did the best pizza slices but there was always a wait and greedy people would take half a pizza leaving non. I think they’d do beater having them to order to the table rather than having to queue to grab a slice if you were lucky. |The book able restaurant we found a let down down, there rushed you out serving your food within seconds of ordering so didn’t feel relaxed limited choice in the menu and like if Asian wasn’t good, steaks looks lovely but were fatty and poor cuts of meat, the best one were Egyptian (lovely staff) and Mexican. ||Drinks were ok, the wines awful but drinkable. We didn’t have much alcohol there as it didn’t taste good but I know it wouldn’t bring a Muslim country. |Also drinks were never cold, bottle of water were warm just dumped in a cool box of ice, I really think they’d need to look at that as we wasted more that we drank as it was too warm within minutes. ||Another negative I have with this hotel is animal cruelty.., a poor house was tided to every afternoon on the beach. It was tided so tight to the rail it couldn’t make its head, it broke my heart to see. There is also a camel parading people up and down the front not matter what there weight was!! Poor thing.||Beach was fab, seas was like a warm bath and there is plenty room with sunbeds. The jetty was nice was a morning stroll.|We did get sick of the massage/spa sellers and one was quite rude and hand on touching your face etc which I’m against. They’d do better displaying the prices then people would choose to go not have some guy argue with you that £100 is good price for a facial!!! NO||We usually spent the evening in the upstairs outdoor bar where they had a live singer, some good mainly bad but it was fun. ||Didn’t really get involved with the entertainment team but they did annoy everyone by blasting music at the beach around 3pm. They seemed friendly and looked to be plenty to do.||Reception staff are a bit grump and I did have to tell one that starving a man who just appeared when I had been stood 5 minutes was out of order!! |Some other guests are rude and will push in and treat staff like slaves which you have to just get over and laugh at their rudeness. ||Overall we had a great stay here and I’d...
