We have just returned from a wonderful week at Club Med Val D'isere. We have 2 boys aged 14 and 11 and being competent skiers they went into an ESF ski group for teens and just loved their skiing across the valleys. Brice, their instructor was hugely experienced and kind and encouraging (especially for teens!) and at the end of the week my boys were sad it was all over! Instructors were attentive in terms of getting mobile numbers swapped with the teens in case anyone got lost (just remind them to put +33 infront of the number for their instructor's French number!) and when we asked to collect the kids one day from a point they were heading to, the instructor asked our boys to confirm who their dad was and that they were happy with the plan before they set off! Impressive!||I'm not a skier and I thoroughly enjoyed the yoga each morning (Emma the instructor was so lovely!) and the Aqua Gym each day too - the 2 instructors worked us hard and helped me justify an extra glass of wine later! The gym was spotless and had everything one would need.||The Club Med staff were extremely attentive and kind. Hasan was the best waiter for us - he'd come and find our family and knew what we'd all fancy drinking! ||The buffet 3x a day was extraordinarily fantastic. I've never been on a holiday before where you continue to be amazed by the foods on offer 3x a day! Then there's the amazing afternoon teas swiftly followed by the evening hors-d'œuvres! Absolutely delicious and so varied! ||The hotel was immaculate, things were cleaned without us noticing, staff knew exactly what they needed to do each day, the boot room was superbly placed for getting onto the slopes, I honestly can't fault anything! ||A very slick ship being run there and 10/10 for service, cleanliness, food, activities, shows, gosh... everything! ||Only hiccup on the holiday was the airport agent managing our BA flight from Gatwick to Lyon. We sat for nearly an hour on the tarmac on arrival in Lyon due to incompetence on the ground, then waited a further 45 mins for luggage after we had cleared passport control. On the return, they only opened 2 check-in desks 2 hours before the flight and by then the entire flight of families and luggage were bundled together after having been dropped off so early. The BA flight was fine in itself but the ground staff / agents for BA in Lyon need to work on a much better service in all areas they cover. (Take snacks for your kids as nothing was open when we arrived on the return leg after having left Club Med at 6:45am too - not even coffee shops!). If we are lucky enough to go back to this resort, will definitely look to fly into other airports as most of them are similar distances from Val D'isere.||But overall, a wonderful family holiday, Club Med has won our vote and whilst it isn't a cheap holiday, it really is wonderful...
Read moreWe spent a week, beautiful weather, great location. For kids under 12, certainly great. Otherwise it is super expensive for what you get. ||First 2 big thanks : Maria the cleaner of our rooms on the 8th floor.. she folded everything and made them lovely. |And Calogero - every morning he welcomed us/me with big smile and did a fabulous « very hot Oat cafe Late ». He handled 10 people with the same smile and nice sentence. ||Definitely not an exclusive hotel. |The food was average well below what you get in club med Les Arcs for example - less choices (if vegetarian please choose another hotel) / it took 3 days to get some green salad and sporadically : « out of stock », « difficult to get » , one day we only got tomatoes for starters (we all joke that they must have received a special delivery), even kids were asking about « normal veg ». |The Italian corner was perfect and always good. ||Impossible to get a quiet place (the millesime was closed Sunday/ Monday (privatised) Tuesday (gold event) Wednesday (special event)… so out of 7 days more than half of the time you could not get a quiet drink. ||Then after one day no more « chartreuse », explanation: « the monks do not make much… » the day after another staff: « it is always the same for the past few years at the end of the season », the GM : « we do not guarantee any drinks »…. All that for an exclusive experience…. To be fair, we did suggest that they go to the closest supermarket as they had plenty… 3 days after they did. The main restaurant is not vacuumed over night so you end up in the crumbs of last night… ||Ski lesson: usually great, the ski instructor was good but should have prevented one couple to bring their 12 yrs old child to the adult group in the middle of the stay. There are kids/teen groups. If someone wants to ski with his/her child, you do it on your own time. The next day we got another couple with their 17 yrs old (he skied well) … and then we had a massive group. In les arcs, it is clear- no under 18 in the adult group to join in the middle of the week and definitely no 12 yrs old. ||Last, always interesting to realise that the GO have rooms across the building so you end up in the lift with them speaking between them what they dislike about the club… or finding one on a step outside the lift, charging his phone and saying hello while on the floor… ||To summarise: disappointed very expensive for what we were told we will get . Definitely nothing luxury. |Go to Les Arcs on the 5 tridents floor if you want a...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Club Med Val d'Isère in July/August 2023. The location was stunning, and it had the charm of an exclusive collection.
I highly recommend this place for leisure or mountain activities. During winter, skiing is the main attraction. Val d'Isère town is a short 15-minute walk from Club Med, and a shuttle bus makes everything easily accessible.
The options for activities like hiking, mountain biking, yoga, hammam, spa Cinque Monde, jacuzzi, pool, darts, dance classes, and afternoon ping pong kept us engaged. Every night offered entertaining events. There is mini club for kids above 4yrs old. The food was excellent, rooms cozy, and decor charming. The Millesime gourmet restaurant is top notch. However, be prepared for flies due to the mountain environment.
The GOs (Gentle Organizers) made our stay delightful. I communicated with them in English. Barq, the Chief of Village, was attentive to guests. We made friends with other guests and GOs, making each day better than the last.
I can't recall all the names, but heartfelt thanks to Dimitris and David - the barmen you can trust with super cocktails (pink lady from Dimitris and David's cocktail being my favourites). Jonathan in room service and Benoit at the Millesime gourmet restaurant - helped organise our 10yr anniversary surprise. Anne Sophie as wine supervisor excellent with customers. From the spa team, Quentin, Jeanne Marine, Remi, and Jeanne Marie needs mention. Special mention to James, who patiently taught me mountain biking, and Calogero, the assistant at Millesime, who always greeted us with a smile and took care of every small need .
We cherish memories with GOs like Chloe (nurse), Stanislov (sales rep), Cinzia (boutique), Spiros and Vasileios (twin barmen), Murat (buffet restaurant), Axel (wine), Nicolas (sports), Billy (pool), Linda (choreography), and Philip.
Our trip was amazing, thanks to the beautiful location and the...
