We booked through WeSki and were put into room 901. The moment we entered the room we were hit by an incredible smell which we soon discovered was the drains in the bathroom. For the duration of our stay we had to keep the door closed and used the kitchen sink to wash and clean our teeth, only venturing in the bathroom for a very quick shower. We bought cleaning spray, blocked up the plughole and sink drain plus the accommodation sent someone with some drain cleaner but to no avail. ||The apartment itself was a tiny room with a bench to sit on with a mattress on to plus a mattress underneath which pulled out into a lower campbed. This was covered in a blue and yellow torn cover. There were four filthy blankets supplied in the wardrobe. I wouldn't have let my dog sleep on them. The table had a torn cover. The chairs were rickety. The kitchen workbench had knife marks all over it. The cutting boards were disgusting. There were three forks and one knife supplied. Three cups were supplied, all with broken handles. No wine glasses. ||The 'balcony' was accesed by stepping over a wall and it was a breezeblock and concrete affair with one broken chair and a sweeping brush. Photos to follow!!||The lamp was broken to the point where the lampshade was balanced on three metal spikes and the plug was broken clean off. There was no other light in the room so we bought some candles and used our phones to find our clothes inside our bags. ||The curtains didn't close all the way either so you've no privacy||We complained several times daily and were given new red blankets and two grey throws which I tried to use to cheer the place up and to hide the awful furniture, some cups and cutlery were left for us too but the place wasn't fit to stay in and the smell was constant and disgusting. There are plenty of reviews on Booking.com which support everything we found. Unfortunately you don't know which room you're getting...
Read moreOverall good. Breakfast excellent. Lounge for post ski unwind was excellent but quickly fills up after 5. View from room was EXCEPTIONAL and we loved watching the snow ploughs work their magic in the dark. Restaurant was excellent for dinner - tempura prawns particularly good. Ski boot room with heaters at reception was great.
Staff were excellent and friendly other than one interaction.
Drawbacks
Expensive for an average 4 star hotel.
Don’t stay in room 102 as Wi-Fi is horrible and it is noisy from footsteps above and is right next for the spa.
The ski lockers are down below reception and accessed via an outdoor set of stairs. It is quite perilous in ski boots. We went down in regular shoes, brought up our gear to the racks outside reception and then changed into our boots. Not a big deal really but I’d expect more for the price and 4*.
Don’t expect much from the spa. Nice facilities but it is cramped and is only open from 330pm to 9pm (I think) and you can only stay 45 minutes and it can only accommodate 5 people at once. A daily sign up sheet is at reception from 8am and you sign up first come first served. With me and 2 young daughters we never wanted to share a small space with 2 strangers so we didn’t use it at all.
Hotel provided robes and slippers (nice touch), but the robes were MASSIVE and the slippers TINY. I guess only large people with small feet use the hotel. Quite odd really.
Safe in cupboard is small. My iPad mini fit in with some manoeuvring but regular iPads and laptops don’t fit.
Only gripe during our stay was an old water bottle with disintegrated seal which we found in a cupboard. The front desk staff rather than apologise and replace said “oh that hasn’t been used for 5 years and is only in the room for decorative effect” …..right!!! A bright orange rubber tiny hot water bottle is in the back of a cupboard for...
Read moreOne of the best ski resort hotel experiences I’ve had the chance to live. Came here for a long weekend as a last-minute decision. Everything turned up smooth, with a super friendly hotel and restaurant team, always happy to help and chat and never giving the impression they’ve had enough of their day. And this is already April, the end of the ski season, so they could have been tired of their guests… and each of them went the extra mile to address any of my requests. A shoot out to their director who runs the place in such a seemingly relaxed mode (and surely not that relaxed - well done!,,) Rooms are super nicely appointed and comfy. Bed was perfect, view upon the slopes and the distant mountains super refreshing. Don’t be cheap and order the humidifier option when you book your room - you’re high up in the mountains and it’s really dry up here. Breakfast is incredibly good, whatever gets you going in the morning. Being French I tend to go crazy on bread and pastries but I couldn’t help sneaking some salmon and blini. I could see the Brits happily digging into the cooked section… Should you be lazy or simply tired in the evening, don’t go out, just stick inside and enjoy a superbly imaginative cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant. Icing on the cake is the simple spa section, based on a first come first served registration process in the morning to keep the area limited to 5 people at a time, for 45 minutes of pure relaxation after a long day on the slopes. Should I come back here? Without any doubt and I can’t wait to next year to actually do so and enjoy my annual ski fix. Bravo to the whole...
