I was really looking forward to eating at La Pause de Pierrette this week. The reviews were nice and the menu that we found looked equally promising. Small menu, locally sourced ingredients and a focus on French cuisine.
The atmosphere is great. Dimmed lighting but still plenty enough to look around and be present with your guests. Service from the waiter was good and we were attended too when needed. We were quite a big company but didn’t wait too long for the food.
Ordered the savoy trout gravelax for entree which was OK. I didn’t feel like the dressing fit the fish that well, I would’ve liked a different sauce instead.
For the main course I shared a côte du bouef which was cooked medium and it was perfect. Really delicious. It came with fried mashed potato balls which honestly was the highlight of the evening, I would recommend them to anyone. The main course came with a girolle sauce which was disappointing unfortunately. Too much cream which overpowered the flavor, and way too “mild”. I am a big sauce fan and was really hoping for something intense and powerful but it felt like a standard pan sauce with a lot of cream. Consistency was also a bit off in my opinion as it were quite thick.
4 stars because of the price. When we are working with these prices the details really has to be on point. But I’d come back again...
Read more[Christmas menu] At the beginning everything is perfect until we wait for more than 25min for the cheese and dessert. One waiter has an unacceptable attitude as he didn’t ask for our choice of cheese and just brought us two random cheeses and explained that « it is like this if you are in a hurry » . I know it is Christmas time and the chef did the best but it is not a good excuse for slowing down the service for 25min+ right??? And why another table who is waiting for the same time but can choose as the waiter presents the cheese in a very polite way?
When we raised the problem to the manager she didn’t even show a single understanding and just said sarcastically « either we wait for a slow service or we have no choice ». Then she made a un willing apology (I wouldn’t even call it an apology) and offered us a box of cheeses. - I mean, we as customers only care for cheeses? We are not some cheap people who just want more cheese for free. If you don’t see the real problem of your service or your attitude, you’d better not do fine dining as the service, not just the food, is what we pay 90€ each for.
PS. Not all the waiters and the waitress are having that attitude. We are happy with the other two waiters and the waitress who...
Read moreWe came here on 20th December a few weeks ago, and had a pleasant experience. Could book a table online which was helpful, and we were greeted by friendly staff.
The food was good overall, but not fantastic. Only one vegetarian option for the main and it was just a plate of vegetables with potatoes - it did taste nice, but was very basic for the price. The other main was chicken, which again was nice, but it was basically just that on the plate, no potatoes or chips, just a few mushrooms to accompany it.
A free amuse-bouche was served which was a nice gesture, but this wasn’t vegetarian and we had already mentioned when ordering that my partner was vegetarian, so she had to watch me enjoy it with nothing for her. We had the tiramisu and shortbread desserts which were both fantastic!
The atmosphere was warm and cosy inside, and the service was great all evening. The food just let it down slightly, but we do still...
