I have not been this disappointed with a highly rated Tripadviser hotel in a while.||I’ll start with the positives. The staff seem friendly and helpful. But when we checked in we were not told about the WiFi and there is nothing in the room to help.|The breakfast is pretty good although they could do with some cut fresh fruit to accompany yoghurt. But for the price charged I think it was pretty decent.|The bathroom of our room was small but it appeared more newly renovated than the rest of the room.|The location is ok being a 5-10 minute walk from either the old town or lake.|You get a great discount on the car park nearby.||Now to the negatives - The entrance door to the hotel is really scruffy. Not a great start. Carpet on all the stairs was dirty. The common areas (except the breakfast room) all need some maintenance. The carpet was threadbare in several places in our room. |At check in we were told the lift is not working and will not be for a while as ‘everyone is on holiday’. Not good enough - We can manage with our luggage but many would struggle. The stairs are quite steep to be lugging up large suitcases. The lady did offer to help with luggage but who is going to ask her to drag a large case up 3 flights of stairs. If we had known there would be no lift we may have changed hotels. ||I booked a triple room for the two of us because I thought it would give us more space - it doesn’t. They just squeeze a single bed in. |There was one large towel for a triple room. We asked for another and eventually got one. Never had a hotel that doesn’t give a towel for each person in the room. Towels were thin, rough and tiny. |Our room was dark and dingy. Room 320. The picture on the website shows a room with nice decor, fancy pictures and ornate mirrors, throws and plants. Our room had none of that. It was basic looking in the extreme. They gave us THREE coat hangers. |The air con unit made a rumbling noise every few minutes that did not help sleep. We had to turn it off. Luckily it was not raging hot when we were there, although I would have liked to have it on.||We did not look forward to returning to the dark and unwelcoming room. Zero effort had been made. The view out the window was not great. ||Really disappointed and I don’t even think worth the lower price, compared to other Annecy hotels. I have no clue how it gets so many...
Read more[Solo travel review] ] I was looking for a good location, simple and clean hotel/hostel in the Annecy downtown. I found this on Google Maps and stayed for 2 nights : I really enjoyed my time here. The location is amazing, you are at 2-min walk from the train station and about 5 mins walk to the Old Annecy (several restaurants). The hotel is clean and beware, you must walk 1 floor to access the reception desk (it is not on the ground floor and not handicap wheelchair friendly). My single bedroom was clean and had everything that I needed to make my stay enjoyable (enough space to walk around no problem). The wifi and air conditioning were functional, available, and worked 100% fine. If you book a single bedroom, it will be on the 4th floor (the attic) and there’s only 2 rooms up there, so it’s very quiet and privacy is +++ 😊
I included the breakfast option at 10 euros/day, and it was very good. Several options : cereals, different kinds of bread, local speciality baked goods, croissants, ham and cheese, eggs (you can boil them yourself to make either soft or hard), yogurt, coffee, and juice, etc. I really enjoyed the breakfasts here and it allowed me to do my daily activities with 100% energy. The staff was super nice and helpful in recommending activity ideas. Overall, I would stay here again.
Annecy tips : rent a bike at Takamaka agency (only 20 euros) and do some biking around the lake. There are bike lanes and it’s a super enjoyable ride with scenic views. It takes 3h if you bike non-stop or 5h if you stop at the several beaches and swim 😊 My personal favorite thing that I did in Annecy. Afterwards, go for gelato at Glacier des Alpes...

Hands down the best place to stay if you want to spend a night close to the old town. WE chose this specifically against all the fancy resorts located along the lake as we wanted to stay in the old city. And it was a good choice for that. But it is quite a dated property and room sizes are quite small and it is more of a glorified ‘Pension’ accommodation than a hotel.
LOCATION: Excellent location in the heart of the old city, and right next to train station.
DINE + DRINK: Didnt get to try their F & B
ROOM: We stayed in Room 210, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Random view of the street ; SIZE: Very Compact room!; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: NO Cosmetics, Bring your own!
FACILITIES: No Gym on site!
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home, and well taken care of.
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property - upto 50 Mbps speed. TinyTV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment...
