This is the first time that my partner has been “allowed” to book our accommodation - it won’t be the last! I initially thought we had been given an incorrect address based on the photos I had seen, but rest assured behind the normal looking front door is an amazing experience. Nat and Didier were so welcoming, the room was spotless and extremely well equipped. The whole house was filled with interesting and thoughtful items. Nat provided us with a map of the town and recommended restaurants to us. We chose one of her recommended restaurants and had a fabulous meal. Interested to hear about our evening, Nat and Didier were fun, but unobtrusive, in their interactions with us. An early flight meant we requested an earlier than normal breakfast. This was accommodated without question and was, without doubt, the best breakfast in a hotel we have ever had. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful garden while doing our best to eat the numerous delights put in front of us. There is no doubt that when we return to Bergerac (which we will), that we will stay here again. I also highly recommend Madeline Bergerac to anyone looking for accommodation where the emphasis is on doing the right thing for the guest rather than what makes money. After a stay in a “sterile” chain hotel the night before, this was a different and welcome change. Please don’t all book to stay, so we can get a reservation when we...
Read moreThis is a delightful traditional French house with a interesting quirky garden. The hosts Didier and Natalie were so welcoming and helpful we felt at home immediately, we were collected from the airport by them which is a very short drive away. We had a very large room at the rear of the house overlooking the garden which included a very useful seating area right next to a huge window. All the amenities were great and good quality, bed super comfy, tea making stuff provided. We really enjoyed sharing breakfast with other guests in the delightful breakfast room. It’s a short walk over the bridge into the old town. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic French stay away from the more touristy areas. Boat trip was enjoyable and a train trip to the medieval town of Sarlat was also a lovely place. Our favourite meal was at Bistro D’en Face, it gets very busy so do book beforehand. Thanks you Madeline Bergerac for a...
Read moreWe spent the final night of our holiday here before flying home. I wasn't too sure about it as we arrived but the minute the front door opened we stepped into a wonderful welcoming space. We left our luggage early and spent the day in Bergerac returning later to check in. We were offered cooling drinks upon our return as it as a hot day. Our room was at the rear of the property overlooking the garden. A large comfortable room with seating area and fabulous bathroom ( although no door to the bathroom! ). So much is available in the room including phone chargers, tea/coffee, small snacks, TV, toiletries etc..... All serving to make this a fantastic hotel. ||Breakfast was excellent, fruit, yogurts, cheese and breads, pastries, coffee and juice. ||And as if the stay wasn't already perfect we were given a lift to the airport when we asked if we could book a taxi... Amazing...
