We checked in yesterday (02 Jan 2024) for 2 nights stay. The hotel seems to be fanciful but breakfast is priced very expensively at 21€. We wanted to try this new concept of the Accor group anyway so why not? The room was in general clean but to my horror, upon lifting up the toilet bowl cover, I was greeted with a toilet bowl full of yellowish piss that had not been flushed away. That meant that the toilet was never ever cleaned before releasing for next guest.. or the housekeeping took a convenient piss before leaving and forgetting to flush. Anyway, it could be a genuine mistake so let's not make a fuss at this moment.||But I was disappointed to see that there was hardly any amenities in the room. No tea or coffee bags with water boiler. There was only a packet of drinking water in the minibar. It turned out that the water was not even replenished the next day. What was funny: there is a sticker on the minibar door that indicates vending machine available on ground floor. But it could not be found. When we asked the receptionist, we were told that the vending machine is still yet to be installed ??!?!? And suggested to us to go to their restaurant bar to order water or drinks instead. No way ! I am not going to pay for pricey drinking water or tea from their restaurant. Not mentioning that the service charge we will have to pay for getting drinking water there. For a hotel at this tariff, I expected at least to have the basic water, teabags and coffee bags available and replenished! At least most of the basic hotels in France offer this. Some hotels would even offered a coffee machine with capsules.||It makes us started to look around the room with a more critical eye. Indeed not only drinking water and basic beverages are not offered. There was only a small bar of handsoap and a miserable piece of body soap placed in the shower to be shared by two occupants of the room. Not only that, the next day after housekeeping, the body soap was not replenished at all. We came back into the room to see the previous bar of soap lying there miserably. ||This is not what we expected from an Accor hotel which is usually a brand we feel confident in. Mama Shelter tries to be hip and fanciful in their loud decor but in real fact is lacking in hospitality by trying their best to save up whatever they can from the basic necessities (soap, drinking water...) ||Definitely I will not ever stay in this chain ever again. I sincerely hope Accor group will review and see if it fits their usual standards, because I surely...
Read moreAn honest review from a travel facilities scout, I was here to find hotels for potential business trips .. Your hotel could be amazing, it's in a great location, with nice rooms. Firstly we were informed about the parking, which we should have been told was limited. However when an alternative was given, this alternative had stairs, so that should be mentioned for people with limited mobility. Second, you have a great reception area, but on arrival there was no staff, and we had to wait a while to check in. The staff arrived and we were not told any information. We did not know about breakfast, checkout times, WiFi, facilities etc. Very poor welcome. We just had to Google everything!! The room was NOT as purchased, it was smaller bug we were so tired and given the poor greeting, I just could be bothered to argue. The room was very clean, your cleaning staff did a great job. The bar / restaurant was a great setting. However, a few staff were walking around eating !! Hiding food in their pouches. This is not hygienic when serving food ! Plus they then cut bread with hands they had eaten from. The service was slow, and the staff kept meeting at the back to gossip . The breakfast could be great, but most of the trays were empty, and again kitchen staff stood talking! Serving staff not really trying to replenish the dishes. Very disappointed overall. Such potential yet such poor training. On check out, the lady was very Friendly but their was no discussion on how...
Read moreI just spent four nights at Mama Shelter. First the good elements. Mama Shelter is a quiet and calm hotel almost in the middle of Dijion. We were given a room upgrade, and the room was spacious, with a firm mattress and plenty of room in the shower. In the lobby there was everything you'd expect from this brand. Video games, karaoke rooms, a cinema, and a very funky bar/restaurant. The staff are all very helpful and speak English.||Mama Shelter is part of the Accor group, Europe's large hotel chain, and this is where it shows. For this price point you would expect shower gel or shampoo, but there was none. Likewise, the breakfast was an eye popping 42 Euros for a couple. And finally, they do what a lot of Accor hotels do...When we were in Dijon it was hot, but the air conditioning never really cooled down the room, in spite of me turning it down as low as possible. This is a cost saving measure. ||The final concern is about the WiFi. But before writing this I made sure what I was about to write is correct. The Wifi is sporadic and at times decides to switch itself off. The 5G is also poor as the hotel is in a thick building. To verify the Wifi issue my partner and I tried across 5 devices and at different places in the hotel over 4 days. Same result. On Sunday, 8.6.2025 I asked the staff if the Wifi is working normally. She replied 'It's working...
