Everyone knows that the French were never friendly, but I didn't know they were also RUDE!||I have been a MARRIOTT customer for over 30 years and have remained a customer of this chain for over 1,100 nights and have NEVER made any complaints about any hotel, except this VERTIGO HOTEL in Dijon:||1. Initially I had difficulties making the payment through the MARRIOTT system, giving me the impression that they were scammers, as the payment was not confirmed by payment through the Marriott website. I wrote to question this problem and they were skeptical: either you pay through OUR system or I cancel your reservation!||2. Room 410 is tiny, IBIS standard, but with an electric coffee maker! The photos on the Marriott website were manipulated to make the room look big, but it's not!||3. The room had a photo of a nude statue of questionable taste nailed to the ceiling! Simply abominable!||4. The room was dirty, especially the carpets!||5. The price of the stay is too high for the standard offered.||6. My TITANIUM ELITE MARRIOTT status WAS NOT RECOGNIZED FOR THE FIRST TIME!||7. Frustrated with the room, I asked them to give me my money back, but they refused! I understand that the institution must be compensated in case of no-show! But what does French law say when the customer is not satisfied and the product advertising is misleading! The reception attendant said that he did not have the autonomy to return the reservation money and also informed that the manager asked him not to be disturbed - TERRIBLE LEADERSHIP!||8. On the bed there was a ridiculous gift of a 25 gram jar of DIJON mustard (photo attached) which is honestly useless!||9. When checking in, the attendant asked me how my stay had been! Obviously I replied that I had been terrible...so she didn't want to listen to me anymore!||Honestly this stay was an OFFENSE! Marriott should be more careful when inviting partners into its network!||I will never step foot in this hotel again. And I will do everything to ensure that no one...
Read moreThe two stars are given for the really convenient location- just a minute from the old town of Dijon- and the extremely friendly and helpful young staff. As for the rest- this hotel is a design nightmare and clearly reverses the ‚form followes function‘ to ‚ function has to follow form.‘ First, it‘s in black and white which means mostly black for the reception. The light design is such that we could hardly see the receptionist as we were entering the building. It felt like entering a tomb. This impression grew even weirder in the lift, where you could hardly see anything at all. The room we had (407) felt incredibly small for two and it wasn‘t even the smallest category. It was just so badly shaped and stuffed, that you literally couldn‘t move without banging any of the furniture. In spite of the size of the room they had an overdimensioned mirror crammed in, that made it even harder to move and turned out to be the tv. The worst suprise came at night though. There are coloured lights in the windows, that cannot be switched off- due to the hotel design. It was covered by the friendly receptionists that came to our rescue and told us, he had to do that all the time, because - surprise!- the guests hate having coloured lights all night long, while they want to sleep. The breakfast buffet was small, but okay. Nothing special. No recommandation, no turning back. Marriott should really reconsider their...

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I expected a warm welcome and a level of service reflecting the loyalty I’ve shown to the brand. Unfortunately, Vertigo Hotel in Dijon fell far short of these expectations.
The check-in process was frustrating and unwelcoming. Despite my elite status, there was no recognition or effort to make me feel valued. On top of that, I was charged €200 for the minibar (€100 per room), which feels excessive and unjustified. The minibar contains bare minimum of assortiment and contains only cheap products. This left a very poor first impression.
The staff at the reception were notably unfriendly, with little interest in providing helpful service or resolving concerns. The rooms are small and not particularly well-equipped, certainly not what you would expect at this price point.
On the positive side, the location is excellent, and the rooms were clean—but these are basic expectations, not redeeming qualities for a hotel positioned as upscale.
Overall, I did not feel welcome as a Marriott Titanium Elite member, and I regret choosing this property. I do not recommend Vertigo Hotel in Dijon, especially for loyal Marriott travelers expecting a certain standard of...
