The stay could be a perfect 10’ …BUT two days before arrival I received an email in French that my reservation was “invalidé” … I google translated the email and it seems that they tried to pre-authorize the full amount in my credit card and because they couldn’t do it, they couldn’t guarantee my booking = bizarre!!! I had booked through Accor site, I had provided my credit card and I had everything confirmed as guaranteed for late arrival. Upon receipt of this email I also did web check in and replied WITH screenshots asking then to confirm that as in the system, everything was OK. I was simply ignored. I had to change my travel plans to be there earlier … just in case. NO recognition of my loyalty status, but they apologized and offered to both of us a welcome drink. Apparently they hadn’t read my request, but the room was OK, without scaffolding and with comfy mattress (my most important factor) ensuring good sleep. No air extraction in the bathroom, no kettle in the room. Breakfast was good with fresh orange juice and fruits. The worst scrambled eggs ever … probably made of powder and not mixed well, and the major upsetting factor is that the breakfast room is too small for so many guests. Both mornings had to wait to find a seat … some dishes were running out quickly and took ages to be replenished, tables were messy and never cleaned as they don’t have self-cleaning rack to leave your tray and the two young ladies serving in a relaxed tempo didn’t care at all. The location is perfect and the fact that there is parking just across the street makes it a perfect choice to explore Dijon. Without the “invalid” unexplained email and if the breakfast was better organized it would be an...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting Burgundy for art and wine (and cheese..and beer!) and this hotel provided an excellent base for us. It is itself a lovely looking hotel (the exterior is in the art nouveau style) but we enjoyed everything about the hotel. The location is superb, close to the station but on the old town side so also close to all the sights and restaurants. We were able to conveniently day trip to Besancon, Dole and Chalon-sur-Saone using the trains and also the minibus pick up for a group wine tasting was very close by. The room was clean, spacious (for the type) and quiet. Our only minor issue was the window restrainer as we woudl have preferred to have it open further but I suspect that is goverened by some legislation. The breakfast was brilliant. You expect lovely bread and cheese in France and you certainly got that but there was plenty of choice also of cold meat, pastries, cereals and some local delicacies (nonnettes). Most importantly for any fussy Brits, they had English Breakfast tea ....and a decent blend at that. We always take some emergency stocks with us. I was delighted to say they were not need. The staff were also brilliant - helpful, professional and friendly and happy to engage with us in English. We are always self conscious about our ability to speak French but staff were great in making us feel welcome. I use Accor hotels a lot for work (so am a member) across all their brands but am happy to say that the Ibis Styles, Dijon Central is the best hotel in that brand that...
Read moreFirstly, the bed was comfy and the breakfast was great. The madeleines, especially, were fantastic. All of the staff at the hotel were very helpful throughout.||As other reviewers have said, there is currently building work ongoing to the facade of the hotel. Whilst I don’t really care about scaffolding on an inner city hotel, loud drilling started before 9AM - for a HOTEL, I don’t think this is acceptable. ||The room we were in didn’t have a safe/security box - which we found really strange (it was the only hotel in 10 we’ve stayed at which didn’t offer a safe). ||The en-suite didn’t have an extractor fan in it - which meant that odours and steam from the shower didn’t escape quickly.||The air conditioning system didn’t work within the room - we had to go down to reception on both nights for reception to manually override and lower the temperature.||Overall, a lot of issues (although fairly minor), and ultimately we slept okay and enjoyed our breakfasts - hence...
