A Picturesque Stay with a Few... Quirks My stay at this charming hotel in the heart of beautiful Valbonne was, for the most part, a lovely experience. The hotel is truly picturesque, with good-sized rooms and stunning, recently renovated bathrooms. The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. However, once the sun sets, a different story begins. The pigeons outside the balcony seem to have a nightly convention right outside the window, and their cooing is a lot more insistent than one might expect. Even with the windows closed, their persistent serenading makes for a challenging night's sleep. Then there's the bed. I've heard of race cars having excellent suspension, but I believe the engineers at Ferrari F1 could learn a thing or two from the bed in my room. A simple roll-over becomes a voyage across the mattress, and trying to sit up to read a book is a truly dynamic experience; the backrest acts as a lever, launching you toward the opposite wall. Add to this the thin doors and a very noisy staircase, and a good night's rest becomes a genuine challenge. While the hotel can't be blamed for inconsiderate guests, the combination of all these factors makes sleeping here feel like a competitive sport. It's a real shame, as the hotel itself is so charming, clean, and well-maintained. I can only hope that other rooms have a more peaceful pigeon situation and a bed that stays firmly on the floor. While I didn't get a wink of sleep, it's still a beautiful place to visit... if you're not...
Read moreWe have just returned from a week long stay at this hotel in Valbonne and are glad we did not choose anywhere else. The rooms have just been renovated and re-vamped, the décor is fresh and bright. Plenty of tea and coffee and bathrooms are stocked with everything you may need. Very impressed with the helpfulness of all staff. It is right on the maket square but we had no problem with noise in fact we left the window open most of the time just to hear the conversations outside and the laughter of people enjoying themselves. The restaurant next immediately door is really a good place to eat or have a beer - again really friendly attentive staff. There is a market on Friday which goes down the side streets as well and has a good variety of food and linens, antiques, crafts etc. So really this hotel is the best for enjoying the mornings - by the way the breakfast is optional but good and plenty of it and can either be taken inside or out - lunchtimes and evenings are there to watch the world go by. Just out of interest the bus service to Sophia is good and from there you can get to just about anywhere - and really cheap. We had hired a car but didn't use it that much - parking is free all around the village/town. We will...
Read moreNice hotel in an medieval town house in the center of valbonne at the village square.Rooms renovated and clean. Very few parking spots close to the hotel, but there is a big free parking space 5 minutes away, but you have to walk uphill. The hotel and the personnel is very nice. Although it is an medieval building and you would expect thick walls, we could hear the neighbours snore..but why we could really just give four stars is because of the breakfast. You will get a voucher and have the breakfast across the town square in an restaurant. We already read in the reviews it would be very small so this was not the point. But the waitress was just asking if we would like to have coffee or tea, that was all. She was not explaining what it would consists of, or ask if we would like to have something extra (of course we would pay for it!). So we each just got one croissant, a piece of baguette, butter, jam and a glass of orange juice. They did not even ask what kind of jam we would prefer...maybe it was due to not speaking english properly but a few words in french would not be a problem to us she could even show us what...
