La Pigeot — Restaurant in Grasse

We visited this place for dinner after our usual in valbonne closed about 4 years ago and the food was unforgettable so we booked again for my mothers birthday on our most recent trip.

The food was fantastic and (very) plentiful and the staff were mostly efficient, however I secretly delivered a very special cake to them earlier in the day for my mothers birthday and they stupidly announced/double checked it twice to the whole table (including my mother) before bringing it out, despite the fact I had made it very clear on 3 occasions where it was meant to go, and who it was for. It really was utterly brainless and a real shame. Completely ruined the surprise!!

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past and went last night with my husband and a friend. We were very disappointed in the service and quality of the dishes compared to our past experiences there. The staff was not overly kind nor accommodating. They said they could not make the house cocktail (which is more or less a mojito) without alcohol. Do not tell me they didn't have some limonade, mint and limes sitting around in the fridge somewhere they could have put in a glass for me. And the couscous was overly salty and not filled with the delicate flavor of fresh herbs as it once was and the tangine was pure sugar- no real flavor in the food. We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation, and while the food was quite good, it was definitely overpriced. When we made our reservation, we were told there was a kids’ menu available, but that turned out not to be the case. The waiter kindly offered to prepare a kids’ portion of köfte, which was delicious — however, we were surprised to find we were charged the full adult price of €29 for it.

Unfortunately, due to this lack of transparency and the high prices, we wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend it. There are better options in the area that offer more...
