This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel was easy to get to and only a short walk from the train station which runs to Nice Airport. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by *beaming* smiles from the reception. The staff throughout my stay could not have been nicer. They made you feel special but without the forced, uncomfortable feeling that you get from overpriced 5 star hotels. Everything about the hotel is lovely. Firstly, everything smells nice, from the subtle perfume that greets you as you walk in, to the bed sheets and the soaps in the rooms. The beds are without a doubt the nicest I have ever slept in- firm and supportive with a comfy topper. Everything in the rooms and the hotel in general works and makes sense where you find it. For the four days I was there I kept discovering a subtle detail around the place and found myself saying to myself 'that's a really nice touch'. It's just one of those places. Honestly I couldn't fault it but I have been slightly reluctant to write this review as I don't want it to become so popular that the prices will go up and I won't be able to stay there! Merci Hotel Verlaine, it was a real real treat to stay with you. Hopefully I will be able to return :D

Stepping into Hotel Verlaine in Nice feels like entering a timeless Riviera dream. Nestled among elegant palm trees, this boutique gem radiates an air of understated glamour, perfectly blending modern comfort with the spirit of the Côte d’Azur. Every detail here whispers sophistication — from the artful décor to the thoughtfully curated touches that make each corner feel special. The atmosphere is serene yet stylish, with a warmth that instantly makes you feel at home. Whether enjoying a quiet morning coffee beneath the swaying palms or admiring the refined interiors, Hotel Verlaine captures the essence of Riviera charm. It’s not just a place to stay, but a little slice of glamour in the heart of Nice.

This is not the Carlton, but it doesn’t pretend to be. Hotel Verlaine feels a bit like classic south-of-France: gate opens, you roll in with the car, reception on one side, your room somewhere on the other. Rooms are decent, equipment decent - everything just about decent. It’s small, yes, but has that personal touch that saves it from being forgettable. Price is still fair, even in the Cannes high season. For a night or two, it’s a good choice… just don’t expect fireworks.

The reception staff was generally very nice. However, unfortunately, we were charged 8 euros for the complimentary water bottles in the room. We were told that we would receive two free water bottles, but after we left the hotel, 8 euros were charged to us without any information. When I inquired why, I was told it was because we had taken something from the minibar, which was not correct. The staff then confirmed the error and promised to refund the incorrectly charged amount. It has been a month, and I still haven't received the refund. It's not about the money; it's about the principle – I was charged 8 euros without reason, and perhaps others are charged even more. Clearly, if such small amounts are incorrectly charged to each guest and not refunded, a lot of money can be made. They promised a refund, but why does it take more than a month to return the money? The excuse was that accounting had processed it – accounting is quick to charge but slow to refund. Never again, and I do not recommend this place at all, as accuracy and integrity are my...

We stayed in Hotel Verlaine for 10 nights as a family of three. The hotel is nicely located in a quiet neighborhood, close to the promenade, main shopping street and the train station, which is a very convenient way to explore Côre d’Azur. There is a large grocery store just outside the hotel, that is open 24/7. The hotel is very pretty, clean and has good design. There is a small beautiful garden, where you can sit and enjoy a coffee. Hotel has a very friendly staff. We stayed in a large family room and we had a very comfortable stay. There were many shelves and storage areas in the room to accommodate all our luggage, clothes and other personal stuff. One of the features of the hotel that it offers premium bathing accessories and liquids. I will miss the honey soap. Overall, it was a very...
