A Lovely Hotel!! After reading some of the bad reviews here, I was a bit wary of booking a room at this hotel. But, my own experiences of 30 odd years of travelling to France made me take them all with a pinch du sel. I had a nightmare journey thanks to several train delays, but once I entered the hotel I was impressed by the large lobby area and bar restaurant. A very friendly girl on reception checked me in, and as I had done my research, I expected the sofa bed in my room, and I have to say that I had the best night's sleep on said sofa bed that I've had in any hotel in a long time. There was one hard pillow and one soft - as there should be in all hotels, and the mattress just enveloped me like a big warm hug. Most people don't realise, that Apart Hotels like this require you to clean the rooms after your stay, or pay extra for that service. One thing that J'ai decu about was that the in-room safe did not have a lock on it. You have to pay 4 Euros a day at the reception to rent one! Anyway, I made other arrangements to secure my valuables, so that wasn't much of an issue pour moi. The kitchenette was well equipped, and saved me a fortune by not having to eat out. Alas, when I ventured to the beach nearby for un bain du soleil, I found that it was closed for renovation works! :-( No fault of the hotel of course. Typical of the French, they managed to roll out a "red carpet" on the street to make up for it. I know where there is another beach 10 - 15 minutes walk away, so went there instead. Afterwards, I had a nice half hour session in the hotel's sauna in the evening, which made up for all the stressful events I suffered through earlier. I didn't use the gym or wi-fi, as I want to get away from those things while on holiday. I think that this is one of the best hotels for the price, I have stayed at so far. On my last day, a very attractive and friendly lady on reception checked me out. "I'll be...
Read moreWhat I loved about this place… Compared to other nearby hotels, incredibly well priced. The location is fab, smack behind the Carlton Hotel, so a short walk to the Palais de Festivals and an even shorter walk to the beach. Clean room, with Fridge and kitchenette. Balcony (please note this is no smoking, even though their own photos clearly show ashtrays on the balcony!). Very quiet in the evening. Small Spar supermarket nearby for essentials.||What you need to know… it’s a bit quirky and more of an apart-hotel than a hotel. You get towels given to you at reception on check-in. One hand and one bath towel per person. You can buy additional towel bundles for €5. There’s no cleaning / maid service included. They ask you to empty your bin and take it to the garage, strip your bed and take all linen down to reception and sweep your floor before you leave (10am check out). You can however pay €80 to have this done for you. The sofa in my room was also the bed. Bottom sheet already on it, pillows and quilt in the cupboard. Surprisingly comfortable!||Things I didn’t try, but they do offer: Swimming pool, wellness area, optional continental breakfast (at a small charge, think €10 each, need to order the day before)||Overall: Simple accommodation. Excellent location and value for...
Read moreWhere to start? So you pay hotel tax but this isn’t a hotel, it’s apparently a serviced apartment, you don’t get ANY CLEAN TOWELS , OR ANY POOL TOWELS, by the way there is absolutely no where to dry your towels except a damp, dark balcony which doesn’t see the sun even if the sun shines. We fried our five body towels which lasted the duration of 4 nights on the back of kitchen chairs which we were then unable to sit on. ||Oh by the way you MUST clean your room before you leave yes that’s taking out your wet towels which never dried properly, your bedsheets and cleaning the bathroom sweeping and cleaning the floors and not leaving a single piece of rubbish , yes you must enter the hotel car park behind two closed doors and place your rubbish behind two closed doors in their rubbish bin. Do not ask for a clean towels otherwise you will be charged at least 5 euros per towel. Of course you can’t use these towels poolside and of course the hotel DOES NOT PROVIDE POOL TOWELS!!!!!!!||Silly me to think a 4 star hotel which I have just paid hotel tax at should provide me, my partner and my 3 kids with a pool towel, what an ask.||Oh and be prepared to be faced with BLACK MOULD, yes that’s right thick black mould covered around the BEDROOM window!||Advice ………. pay more and DO...
