I suppose the quality corresponds to price, which is on the more affordable side around city center. But I found a handful of things lacking.
We stayed there over a long weekend, when there was a heat wave in Paris—around and over 30 degrees celcius the whole day. Our room windows were facing the sun, and it was unbearably hot inside. It surprised me that the room only offered a fan, but no AC—I would expect that in a location with struggles with such high summer temperatures AC would be a standard. Additionally, the room did not have a mini fridge or anything like that, so one couldn’t even cool oneself with a cold drink.
What was very odd to me is that the staff asked us to leave the room key whenever we were leaving the hotel—I’ve never experienced that, and it made me feel uncomfortable that I needed to ask for my key every time I wanted to go back to our room. It felt weird to leave the custody over our things to the reception staff, where it was available to us only upon getting the key again. Very odd practice.
Lastly, the wifi was patchy. It was a public network, and the pop up which one needed to tick in order to access the wifi had a non-operational link to terms & conditions. In effect, I wasnt able to read the terms & conditions and it made the wifi provider look very sketchy to me.
Overall, I would say the hotel is ok when you’re on budget, but staying there in summer was not a good experience. The merit of the location seemed bleak in comparison to the uncomfortable aspects that could have been avoided by staying at a better hotel further from center at similar...
Read moreWe stayed for 4 nights at this hotel in a 3rd floor room at the front of the hotel. The place was spotlessly clean on arrival and the room was well serviced each day. The shower room was small but perfect and clean - loads of hot water and pretty much soundproof from the bedroom. Soap and shampoo provided. The towels could have been bigger perhaps. The room facilities were good - kettle etc. for making hot drinks, hairdryer, fridge, safe, flat screen tv. The floor was laminated wood-effect and therefore hygienic. The windows opened so that you could get fresh air and a view of the street, but did not close easily. On a busy main road, but once the windows were closed, we slept without disturbance. Good lighting and pleasant decor in muted shades. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and responded swiftly to a couple of email queries I made prior to our trip. We opted to breakfast in local cafes for variety so cannot comment on the hotel breakfast. It smelt good though! Free wi-fi worked fine in our room. The hotel is 2 Metro stops from Gare du Nord (so very convenient for Eurostar). Area behind hotel is quiet and interesting with independent shops and cafes. Do not miss seeing the Canal St Martin area and visiting the Marche St Martin - the local covered fresh food market. MUST visit the fabulous boulangerie Du Pain et Des Idees nearby. All 5 minutes walk from hotel. Would definitely revisit hotel when...
Read moreWe stayed in this Hotel for 4 nights and all in all it was a really great Hotel.
Pro: close to three metro stations, one of which is the main station (gare de l'est) very friendly staff very cheap for paris beds are very comfortable
Con: something in the room is very loud. i’m not sure if it’s the heating or anything, but there’s this constant „vibrating“ sound. you get used to it very fast so it doesn’t really bother while trying to sleep, still it’s a little annoying. from our room we could hear EVERYTHING that happened in the hallway. that was really annoying, especially at night when you woke up because someone pulled out their key to open their room and you thought someone was trying to get into your room. nothing happened of course, still it’s a little scary but mostly just annoying. this is why im only giving 4 stars. the wifi is really slow
worth mentioning but doesn’t rly affect the rating: the ares of 2 metro stations that are close (i think they are called „Chateau d‘eau“ and „straßbourg saint denis“) are a little creepy, especially my girlfriend felt very unsafe at these stations - of course the language barrier added a little more to that. we tried using these stations twice and then decided to just use the metro station at gare de lest which worked fine.
i would definitely recommend this hotel and i could imagine coming...
