AVOID. The tradition was okay if a little old, the pain au chocolat aux amandes was the worst I've ever had. It was soggy, squashed, falling apart, stale, utterly disgusting. I threw half of it out. This is on top of rude/racist staff, the owner paid almost zero attention to me apart from pointing the POS machine to me to pay, then continued conversation with someone else. I was politely waiting for the payment to go through and seeing the receipt come out of the machine and he was ignoring me I said "merci" and began to walk away. Then I rudely got a passive aggressive "attendez monsieur blah blah blah" as if I needed to steal €3.20 of your stale pastries? A second later after he rudely talked at me as if i was a thief it went through. He could have been reasonable and waited but no, profiling. Though on réflection the pain au chocolat was bad enough to warrant a refund. You have no idea how to run a business old man. No idea how this place has such a high rating, there are far better...
Read moreFirst bakery we visited when arriving in Paris, and it did not disappoint! We got x2 Pain au Chocolat, x2 crepes with sugar, x1 chocolate eclair and x1 citron tart for only ~€12, very reasonable price considering how good the quality is.
The Pain au Chocolat was beautifully crispy and buttery (and huge!), wished there was a bit more chocolate inside though.
The crepes were ok - not my first choice but wanted to try anyway, probably nicer heated up.
The eclair was the most expensive thing we got at around €4 something and easily worth it, very decadent, heavy and filled to the brim with cream. Delicious.
The citron tart was also amazing, great balance of flavours with the soft meringue on top, the zingy lemon filling and the crisp pastry - the pastry alone I could just eat lots of.
Wanted to try their croissants but they had sold out earlier, as whatever they bake in the morning, is all they sell for during the day. They must be good as they were gone by 3pm! Going back to try...
Read moreThis Boulangerie is always so so busy! We came around 11am and was lucky to get a seat. We were served quite efficiently and got very cute Easter themed cookies alongside our cafe au lait.
The brunch sandwiches were tasty, the chicken curry one in particular was soft and flavourful. The salami and cheese one could use more salami, because the bread is a lot denser and I was overwhelmed by the cheese and bread and could barely taste the salami or the pickle. This particular sandwich was hurriedly toasted and was quite cold on the inside… overall good experience and efficient service, would come back for breakfast and quick...
