This is a hostel labeling itself as a hotel.
When we arrived the room was fine. A little crowded with a desk and chair stuffed into a 10m2 room with a double bed and a bathroom door that hits the air conditioner each time it's opened, but that was expected.
On the second night of the five nights we'd scheduled we came back to our room to find that the air conditioner had been turned off. I went down and spoke to the young woman at the desk who apologized and was able to give us back control of the thermostat.
The third night we came back to find that the AC had been turned off again. This time when I went downstairs to the lobby the gentleman at the desk was far less helpful. After hemming and hawing he attempted to fix the issue saying it would take about 15 minutes for the change to kick in. After 30 minutes of no air, I went back down to speak to him again. This time he informed me that there had been many complaints from other guests that their rooms were too cold, so the hotel manager decided to take control from the individual rooms and set them all to heat. According to him they do this at the end of every October but because it had been cold and they had gotten complaints they decided to make the change a month early. For the record it was around 22C (72F) and absolutely none of this had been mentioned online or anywhere up until this point. I explained that my pregnant wife would at least like to have circulating air if not cool air and was told that it was not possible to change just one room, they must be changed in blocks. This was unacceptable.
This man spent the next hour refusing to call the manager, then calling the manager and refusing to let us speak to them, then refusing again. We were told to turn off the non-functioning unit which obviously wouldn't work. We asked to be moved to another room or hotel in the chain where this change had not taken place and were told that everything was booked (this was a lie as we were able to find rooms in their hotels that night).
Besides this disaster of an experience, the shower leaked through the wall, the drain cap came off and was absolutely disgusting, the elevator randomly stopped working, and there was broken glass in the sink upon our arrival.
I could not be paid enough to stay here again and deal with this level of apathy and...
Read moreI went to visit an old friend in Paris and stayed here because it was relatively close to him and I didn't need much as far as the room was concerned. I just wanted a room and bathroom that were clean. I was going to spend the entire time out of the hotel anyway.||||It was a little confusing figuring out how to enter the hotel. There's a passage that goes through the building with restaurants and shops inside it. The door to the hotel is in there. In the evening they shut the gates to the passage (at around 2 am) so it's something to keep in mind. Someone supposedly takes a look to see if you're out there to open the door but I only got there at 2 am once and the cleaner hadn't shut the gate yet.||||The building is located on the line of a district of Paris that's going through gentrification right now. I mean it has been going through it for years, it's just happening slowly. There is a very good bar nearby but far enough that you can't hear any noise from it and they have some fun drinks. There is also a very nice coffee shop connected to the old theatre and some shops where I found some nice rings and art. There are also restaurants within walking distance that are quite nice.||||The hotel is near some restaurants, so the entrance and reception smells of the food from those restaurants but you can't smell this in the rooms or halls once you're upstairs.||It was recently renovated and was still undergoing some renovations during my stay there. I never heard any noise from the reservation and the hotel was super,...
Read moreUnfortunately the reviews of this hotel and the way it portrays itself online are very deceptive. The location is very sketchy, the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are so small you can barely move in them. We stayed here for a special occasion and my partner booked 'prosecco on arrival' while making his online booking, as a surprise. However, upon check in, the receptionist handed us the bottle of prosecco and 2 glasses for us to carry up to our 6th floor room by ourselves, along with our 2 suitcases and 2 large bags! Not quite what we were expecting but we were prepared to move past this bad start. The towels weren't replaced during our stay despite following the rule stated on the signs on display in the bathroom ie leave them on the floor and they will be replaced. Toilet roll also wasn't replaced so we had to go back down to reception to ask for some, the response was "when your partner made the booking online, did he book room service?" (we were very much under the impression that room service is included in the vast majority of hotel bookings) On the final day the gentleman undertaking room service knocked on our door and proceeded to let himself in before we could respond, which needless to say left me in a state of alarm as I was getting dressed and my partner was in the shower. Only plus side of this hotel is the rooms are clean and quiet for such a busy street (they must be...
