I often stay at Ibis Hotels in Paris, as I have found them to be reliable, clean, and, although basic, comfortable, with helpful staff. I can not say anything positive about this hotel. Please don't book. I wish I had listened to the other reviews.
The area is terrible and doesn't feel safe. It is convenient for the train station, but I'd seriously stay a couple of metro stops away in the future. Especially if travelling solo. We checked in, and our room wasn't cleaned properly. There was talc all over the bathroom and also on the bedroom curtains. The sheets were washed but had stains, and the room had a terrible, pungent chemical smell. It was generally grotty. We asked to move rooms and the guy was really unhelpful, told me he didn't work there, gave me the key to the new room so I could see if it was clean and then didn't offer to help move our bags or apologise for the inconvenience which meant a lot of walking up and downstairs as the lift situation is not good as lots of other reviewers have mentioned. He also made me walk back with our old room key. This wasn't welcome after a long, hard day of travelling.
It wasn't just the room experience; generally, the hotel is pretty grotty, and the rooms are small. Our new room wasn't much better. Hugely disappointed with the overall experience. I complained in the morning to the manager as the evening receptionist said he couldn't help. She gave me some reward points to compensate but then took away the status points I would have earned for the booking. And the cost for me for this experience £225. If you are desperate and do stay pay ma £100 for this...
Read moreSo we like the area and Chartier round the corner and Gare de L’Est is a good connection station for exploring. We have stayed at the Holiday in that has now changed to the NH so needed an alternative. |The IBIS chain is a bit like Premier inns in the UK, a bit basic, but adequate on a budget. ||We found the hotel located in a small road off the main road to the station which shields some of the vehicle noise which is good. Rooms have been refurbished to a decent standard, clean and functional if not a tad small. The reception staff were fantastic, wish I had got names to thank them publicly but suffice to say they were great. |We arrived early so they stored our luggage and sorted our room to a double rather than a twin as it was our anniversary. |When we finally checked in there were petals on the bed a little care package and the reception guy brought us a little half bottle of champagne such a wonderful touch for a budget hotel. ||There is a wonder bakery just round the corner, multiple bus stops and the metro a 2-3 minute walk. ||Lots of dining options and post olympics the area seems to have been cleaned up so feels nice and secure. ||Bit disappointed there are no hot drink making facilities but that’s a minor grumble. There is also little or no hanging space at least in the room we had, hence the 1 mark down.||Over all great stay in a nice budget hotel in a great location, so can’t really complain .||Thanks for making our anniversary...
Read moreCleaners stole my personal items. We went out the Saturday, came back and the cleaners had been in the room, and my perfume was gone. I searched the whole room and couldn’t find it, and the cleaners are the only ones who had been in the room other than us so it had been stolen. The staff were rude and unwelcoming so as two females staying another night we did not feel comfortable raising the issue with them, as they were not approachable at all.||When I booked I naively thought it would be a similar Ibis to the ones in the UK, the photos looked like it. But it was nothing like it. Room was extremely basic without even a kettle or small table. Very worn and grubby in places. When we got to reception we then had to go outside to access the rooms (not ideal but may just be a Paris thing, no biggy) and then when we went to use the lift it would only fit in one person and when I tried it felt quite dodgy. So we had to use the stairs everytime to the third floor. ||The only good thing was the location was good and easy to get to the metro.||I definitely wouldn’t stay here again, not only for the stealing but I’m sure there are nicer hotels with friendly staff for a...
