When we arrived the room was hot (no air flowing) and thermostat indicated fan was controlled by the hotel. I went to registration and showed the young man working there a picture of thermostat which I had set at a low temperature (18 I think) and that it said that the fan was controlled by the hotel so the temperature setting didn't make any difference. The young man was very nice and from the registration desk he set the thermostat to maximum (it was set at the lowest of 3 settings). I was able to see that they control the thermostats. That solved that big problem. The hotel is not centrally located but the Metro is very close so no problem and it is a quiet area to get some rest in Paris and close to the Lyon Gare. It was very clean. The bathroom is a problem because the shower has no divider so the entire bathroom gets wet including the sink. A real bad idea that might have looked like a cool design to someone but very impractical and dangerous so you have to put towels all over the floor to keep from falling. Even my things by the sink got wet. There is a little sink with not much place to put anything. The water was hot and there was excellent pressure. The elevator was very small but we were on floor 1 so we used the...
Read moreEDIT: Just to clarify that I did not cancel my credit card and I obviously had to cancel the reservation as we were unable to travel due to sickness. The Hotel would have been able to amend our Booking / Dates but just didn’t want to. It’s also not an excuse to reply in french when the customer messages you in English. So a bad reply from the Hotel.
Before we were even able to visit the Piapia Hotel we already had an extremely bad experience with their members of staff. My boyfriend and me got sick, so we had to postpone our stay to a another date. I requested it on Booking.com - and the Hotel refused it. I than requested it again, with an explanation why we need to change the dates. The Hotel refused again, and answered in french (Even though my message was in English). I than tried to at least wave the cancellation fee but obviously that was refused as well. Their obviously have no sense for customer service - and just dont seems to care for their guests. Will definitely...
Read moreWe booked into here after Eurostar cancelled our train back to London and our original hotel had no rooms left. It's a fairly budget hotel but with a boutique vibe, modern and pretty classy. Rooms are quite small but have good air-con and properly opening windows. No kettle in the room so had to go down to reception for hot water/coffee (free). Our first room was directly over the entrance door, so was a bit noisy- after the first night we asked if we could move and were quickly given a much quieter room higher up and at the back. The immediate area is nothing to write home about, but the Metro, bus & tram are close by, and also shopping at Nation, just up the road. There is a supermarket on the other side of the main road and a large Monoprix a couple of blocks west too, plus various restaurants and take-aways etc. Friendly staff who...
