La Maison des Peyrat — Hotel in Sarlat-la-Canéda

This lovely place gave us everything we wanted from the French countryside in the Dordogne region -- beauty, peace, warmth, deliciousness, and kindness, along with so many special details that show the attention, care, and great taste of the owners. La Maison des Peyrats allows you to be near but not in the middle of the busy, crowded town of Sarlat -- we could enjoy all that Sarlat has to offer because we were outside the fray. If you like to walk, you can easily get into town by foot in 12-15 minutes ... an easy downhill walk on the way in, and a vigorous uphill walk on the return. Of course you can drive, too. ||Some details about this special space: rooms are super-tasteful and comfortable, bathrooms modern, outdoor pool is warm and sunny. Breakfast is ample, varied, and delicious (including the owner's homemade jellies from his own and neighbors' fruit arbors) and is served in a lovely room, along with many inviting outdoor seating options too. If you want elevators (some rooms are one flight up) and air conditioning, this may not be the place for you (I'll offer that nights were cool and the stone building keeps interiors cool in any case) -- but if you want to relax in a beautiful spot where the owners care about your experience and have created an elegant but relaxing haven with so many special touches, you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. Wir waren mit insgesamt 3 Paaren dort und das für (leider) 5 Nächte. Die Lage ist abseits von Sarlat und die Strecke ins Dorf zu Fuß kaum zu machen. Die Anlage ist noch so einigermassen gepflegt, die Zimmer sind aber in nicht akzeptablem Zustand. Das beginnt damit, dass es in den Fluren sehr unangenehm riecht, gleiches in den Zimmern. Ein Staubsauger wurde während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts nicht zum Einsatz gebracht, die Betten huschhusch glatt gezogen und das war's. Wir hatten noch Glück, weil unser Zimmer zu beiden Seiten Fenster hatte und so nach 2 Tagen permanetem Lüften der Gestank so einigermaßen weg war. Aber auch nur, wenn die Fenster ständig offen waren. Insgesamt empfanden wir die hygienischen Zustände als ziemlich widerwärtig und es hat uns geekelt im Zimmer. Wären wir alleine unterwegs gewesen, dann wären wir nicht eingezogen, sondern hätten gleich etwas anderes gesucht.||||Unsere Freund hatten noch mehr Pech: Ein Zimmer hat lediglich eine Dachluke zum Lüften und man kann nicht raus schauen. Ein solches Zimmer zur Vermietung anzubieten ist schon ein starkes Stück. Dies ist das Zimmer 14, vor dem ich wirklich nur waren kann. Unsere Freunde fragten mehrfach nach einem anderen Zimmer, was der Patron aber ablehnte.||||Geduscht wird in der Badewanne, Griffe, um sich festzuhalten, gibt es nicht und der Ein- und Ausstieg ist nicht so ganz einfach. Das Bad ist fensterlos, die Ablüftung macht zwar einen Höllenlärm, schafft aber die Feuchtigkeit nicht nach draussen. Die Handtücher sind abgewetzt und papierdünn. In unserem Zimmer (Nr. 3) gab es eine separate Toilette, immerhin, aber die hat keine Abluft und kein Fenster.||||Auf dem Gelände und im Haus rennt der Hund des Patron frei rum, eine Art Schäferhund mit langem, ungepflegtem Fell - sowas muss ich nicht wirklich haben. Wir haben abends dort im Garten Picknick gemacht und der Hund umschlich uns permanent und wollte am Essen teilhaben - auch das muss ich nicht haben.||||Mittlerweile gibt es nur noch Frühstück, früher wurde wohl noch Abendessen angeboten. Das Frühstück ist ordentlich mit Croissants, Baguette und auf Wunsch auch Eier und Schinken, das ist für die 11 € wirklich OK. Sehr freundlich sind auch der Patron und alle anderen Mitarbeiter, da gibt es nichts zu meckern. Getränke gibt es abends, solange der Patron noch im Haus ist, meist so bis gegen 22 Uhr. ||||Der Pool schien OK, Liegen können mal knapp werden, Sonnenschirme sind vorhanden.||||Meine Empfehlung an das Hotel: Einmal eine richtige Grundreinigung, alles desinfizieren, Lüften und danach mal andere Standards für die tägliche Pflege einziehen. ||||Meine Empfehlungen an Reisende: Für's gleiche Geld gibt es in und um Sarlat wesentlich bessere...
