I was there during the boot room fire, I thought the staff handlers it brilliantly. ||We were awoken and moved next door to the bar/bowling alley in a private room in the back. The bowling alley stayed open long after closing to accommodate us. The fire was due to an electrical fault with the boot warmer and I can't blame the hotel for this. It seemed to be a freak accident. ||They kept us informed throughout the process with updates every 30minutes. It is a terrible situation so I can understand why some other people give bad reviews for their stats but I think the hotel is not to blame. They are refunding us for the night of the fire, all drinks and meals. They replaced our ski rentals for free and are dealing with the ski shops directly for the insurance regarding the damaged ski rental. They gave me a ski pass for free the day we were leaving so I could do a bit extra skiing. ||The staff were incredible, the man on the desk during the night of the fire ran up and knocked on every single door. |Jennifer, the manager, was really great in sorting out damaged items and reassuring us that we will receive compensation. ||A lot of guests were rude to the staff who are not to blame in this situation. Yes it's a terrible thing to have happen on your holiday but it's just a freak event and it was handled as well as it could have been. ||As for the hotel, the rooms are incredibly clean and well maintained. This spa is lovely, it's really cosy and located perfectly for ski in ski out and also near restaurants for the evening. ||My only complaint would be the food but I'm a vegetarian with allergies so Alpine/French food is never that suited to me. There were options available though and everyone else loved the restaurant 'Les Enfants Terribles' and other guests who went also said...
Read moreThis is the second year we come to this hotel for our ski vacation. The hotel decoration is very funky. Retro. You feel like Steve McQueen or Audrey Hepburn would be there. Some of the furniture could use some facelift and there were areas that could use some dusting. We noticed however some decay in the restaurant compared to the previous year. The breakfast was a big disappointment when last year it was wonderful. Yogurt and salmon were presented at room temperature, this year they did not have the boil your own eggs machine which was our favorite last year, the assortment of fresh fruit was disappointing, and the cold cuts and breads offer diminished as the week was progressing. The walls in the restaurant were dirty.
The room was very comfortable the only problem was that there was only one mirror and the lights were so low and in such a bad angle that I could no apply my make up. The trash cans are also very tiny.
The spa was good although the outdoor spa was not hot enough, neither were the 2 saunas and the hamman was out of service this year. I got a lovely massage.
Overall not bad but considering this year we paid even more than last year, I would advise management to keep things tidy and restore the breakfast to its old glory.
The hotel felt quieter than the previous year....
Read moreWhen it comes to the mountains, this hotel is among my favourite. The rooms are clean (and I am a clean freak), decor is very tasteful, position is great and staff are so helpful and kind.
I had a couples massage which was great, enjoyed the hot tub, steam room and sauna. I highly recommend booking a session after a long day on the slopes.
Rooms have a lovely view over the slopes and the beds are extremely comfortable.
The breakfast was a mixture of pastries, cereal, yogurt, bacon, sausages and eggs.
We ate out at night as I’m a vegetarian which can be tricky in the mountains. There are several restaurants of varying price only a minutes walk from the hotel, we had no issue finding places to eat and the only night we found a busy was Friday so maybe book somewhere that night if eating out.
The bar was 10/10, the cocktails were incredible and service was fast. We always found ourselves in a cosy corner of the lobby at night having a drink, the bartender was super friendly and happy to help even when we came in at the very end of his shift!
Overall a great hotel, I will be coming back here next year. I am very critical of hotels and I know the restraints of being in the mountains can be tricky but it was the...
