Hotel Lindenhof Bad Schandau — Hotel in Bad Schandau

We booked last minute a room for 4 persons in the hotel. There was some confusion with the booking, was cancelled while we were on our way 😔, but later on confirmed again 😉 We arrived just around 9 PM and unfortunately could, after a 8 hour auto trip, not order any food anymore. After we checked in our Appartement and started to look for alternative food locations we found out that after 9 pm is it hard to find any food outlet open. The apartment was located 120 m from the hotel on the top floor. It was clean, spacious and had sleeping spots for 6 (we were 4). Since it was located in the attic of the building it was for me (1.88 m) not possible to stand straight up in some areas of the apartment. For a few days this is ok, for longer periods this could become unpleasant. Due to the extreme heat (whole week 30C++) the apartment was very hot, the 2 available fans could not handle the heat 😔.|The breakfast is superb and the staff is friendly. Stefany (the mngr) speaks good English and gave us some good advise. The location of the hotel excellent for trips to the Saxion nature park. The second evening we tried to have diner in the hotel but it was fully booked. The third evening we came early at 7.30 to occupy the reserved table but the kids arrived back late from their hiking trip. Although they arrived at 8.45 PM the kitchen was not accepting any other orders anymore. “There were only 2 persons in the kitchen, understaffed, and they couldn’t accept more orders” was the reply from the worried serving staff, even though our food was ordered just 5 min before!! We didn’t think this was very hospitable, but also understood that there were hardly any alternatives in this small city. The kids went with the Car to the Czech Republic (15 min drive) to get their meal. We spent 5 days at this hotel during a warm week in July. Our only real criticism would be the lack of air conditioning or other cooling system in our room - but the Lindenhof is not a big city centre hotel and should not be compared with such venues!||Bad Schandau is a German spa town close to the border with the Czech Republic. It is a popular spot with both German and Czech visitors, but less well-known to English speaking visitors - we only heard English spoken once during our stay.||We found the hotel welcoming and friendly. We were accommodated in a first floor room with a small balcony overlooking the garden in front of the house. The room was spacious and all facilities worked well. The building had free wi-fi and this worked well. There is seating in the garden in front of the house and also a terrace area on the roof. A lift is available to all floors - but it does sometimes seem to want to take its own time going anywhere.||Our tariff included breakfast. There was always a good selection of different types of bread and rolls, various cold meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, yogurts, etc. plus boiled and scrambled eggs and usually sausages or bacon.||We ate in the hotel on 3 evenings, each time enjoying an excellent meal.||The hotel is well situated on the edge of the town park, a few minutes walk from the town centre, the Elbe, the two museums and the elevator.||I would happily stay in this town and this...

Ich war im Dezember im Hotel für 4 Nächte eingekehrt.

Rezeption Begonnen hat der Aufenthalt mit dem Empfang, welcher freundlich und informativ war.

Zimmer Weiter auf's Zimmer. Die Matratze war leider kein Highlight aber der Rest des Zimmers incl. Bad war sauber und ordentlich und für die Hotelkategorie absolut gut.

Restaurant Abends 2x im Restaurant gewesen und beide Male war das Essen sehr lecker. Geschmack, Qualität und Optik sehr gut. Der Service hingegen wirkte ehr aufs nötigste beschränkt. Was wohl vielleicht daran lag dass es. Nebensaison war und fast nichts los war und viel Langeweile aufkommen schien. Trotzdem hätte ich mich als Gast gefreut,wenn dieses nicht bei mir ankommt. Was ich wirklich sehr schade fand, es gibt auf der Karte nur Flaschen Radler. Auf zweifacher Nachfrage ob sie mir nicht eines mischen könnten (frisches gezapftes Bier vorhanden und auch Limonade), würde mir dieses verneint mit der Begründung "wir haben ein fertiges in der Karte". Das fand ich sehr schade! Der Hintergrund war dass ich das aus der Flasche kannte und nicht wirklich mein Geschmack traf

Frühstück Das Frühstück war mein absolutes Highlight, es gab frische Brötchen, frisches Obst, frischen Aufschnitt usw. Der Obstsalat war selbst gemacht und kein fertig gekauftes Produkt. Die Erdbeermarmelade ein Traum. Die Zubereitung und Dekoration des Aufschnitt, ein Traum. Das Ambiente im Frühstücksraum, sehr schön! Zur Anrichte der Speisen möchte ich zusätzlich erwähnen, ich habe einen Unterschied gesehen zu "es sieht gut aus, weil es gut aussehen soll" und "es sieht gut aus, weil jemand mit Herz dabei gegangen ist" und mit Herz war der Fall. Mir wurde gesagt, dass sie eine Küchenfee haben, die das alles mit Leidenschaft herrichtet und das habe ich gesehen. Ganz großes Lob und Dankeschön an die unbekannte Küchenfee! Des weiteren die Erdbeermarmelade, sie war einfach für meinen Geschmack ein Traum. Da würde mir gesagt, das diese vom Koch selbst hergestellt wird. Was ist das bitte für eine Eigenwerbung. Ein kleines Hotel welches seine eigene Marmelade kocht. Sehr schön. Großes Dankeschön also an den Koch der Marmelade.

Ich habe versucht möglichst viele Eindrücke hier wiederzugeben ohne den Text im Umfang zu sprengen. Alleine aber dass ich mir die Zeit genommen habe und das aus einer vier Nächte wurden, sprechen für sich denke ich. Es gab zwar Abstriche aber alles in allem, von Gesamtpaket her verdiente 5 Sterne.
