Bakery & Cafe Schurz — Restaurant in Bad Schandau

Service made in Germany!

Sarcasm is the only way to stand what my home country is known for around the world. This bakery might have good cake, I don't know. The coffee might be amazing, I couldn't check.

I entered this bakery barely half an hour ago. I'm used to small shops not accepting card payments in Germany and I could write an essay about how much that bothers me and makes this country stuck in the 1980s. That's not the point of this review though. It's the staff that probably thinks service like in the 1980s would be enough..."it's just tourist", isn't it? After entering the store, knowing about the usual payment issues, I considerately asked if card payment is possible. Why wait until payment is due, right? Instead of something like "We're so sorry, that's not possible but if you don't mind, there's an atm right around the corner. I promise it'll be worth it.😉" all you get is a "Nee!". That's it. Then they look at you like they are waiting for you to finally leave the store and not waste their time any longer. No problem. I love taking my business elsewhere. Not recommended. Lidl isn't far away and their convinience stuff can't be worse than the service at this bakery is. Absolutely...

Very rude service! We came here on a weekday morning (July 12) and we were greeted with " we do not have breakfast" in a rude tone. We were only looking for coffee, and it would have been nice to say "hello". Then, we didn't have Euro so we asked to pay with a card and got a cold response. While my husband was waiting for me to go get money the woman at the register berated us to other customers, telling them they had to wait because he didn't have Euro and I had to go to the ATM. It's honestly stunning that this woman works in customer service in a town that is mostly tourists. Given all the other bad reviews, this is by no means a one...

By chance to find this traditional bakery for coffee break for two, has some seats & table inside, we had first got 3 cakes / tarts with 2 filter coffee, super delicious cake / tarts, filter coffee are normal , and we order two more cakes as they are really fresh , wonderful taste! Even that small cookies for coffee tastes amazing!

Always need to queue up for self service food & drink but worth the wait! Low price compare to all cafes surrounding!

Cash only, try to bring small cash for smooth process!

Truly recommend for all cake lovers! We will come back...
