The food here is of a high quality and there are vegetarian/ vegan options as well as meat options. Sadly, our meal was badly affected by the rather odd service we received. I ordered a large salad with extra falafel. The falafel portion was much smaller than I’d anticipated. after bringing our main courses the waitress asked if there was anything she could bring us. My husband had done very nice potato fries with his schnitzel and I asked if I could have a portion with my salad The waitress just said “no, they only come with the schnitzel “. I was really surprised, not something I’ve had refused before! I then asked if I could have some other type of potato or bread- again I was just told “no” It did make us wonder why she’d asked if she could get us anything else! After clearing our main course plates the waitress left us for about 10 minutes, she then came over and again asked if she could get us anything. It was 2 minutes past 9 We asked if we could have the desert menus. In a recurring theme we were told “no” Apparently the kitchen closes at 9 The waitress insisted that we would have been told this ( we hadn’t!) We then asked why she didn’t menus when she cleared from the main course- no answer to that.
All in all it was a good example of why a good restaurant isn’t just about the food; good service is...
Read moreWe went here in 5 people. Ambience is mediocre and in our section of the restaurant was no music, so no atmosphere. They had advertised online some vegetarian dishes (website) but in the end had just 1 - a risotto with vegetables (18€). The asian waitress had a bad German and made some excuses for having only one veggie dish. We had two risottos, 2x fish dish and 1x Schnitzel. The risotto (my dish) was quite boring with veggies which looked like from a frozen bag and if it was fresh then it shouldn’t look like it. It was a small portion and it was dry. Italian risotto is creamy, please google it, some video from Italian chefs. “Grana Padano” was only in the “sauce”, nowhere to be seen. Others at the table said their food was mediocre as well unfortunately and they are not foodies whatsoever, no high expectations, regular Germans. For us it was a Disappointment. Very pricey and the quality was under average. PS: The balsamico splash is so 90s/early 2000s btw (that’s...
Read moreWent to Tilia check out vegan food as they had more than a few options.
If you are in Bad Schandau you have limited options for Dinner (at least in December) and luckily most restaurants have at least one vegan option.
The food was good. We tried WanTan with Mushrooms, Lentil Salad (my favourite) and falafel with pumpkin curry.
The Falafel and the WanTan were decent but not so fresh. The salad was good and I appreciated the plating with every meal.
As dessert we tried orange chocolate dessert, the cake was dry and ice okay.
Looking at the pricing of the area it felt still on the higher end value for money is not the best, but regarding the pricing in Bad Schandau in general it's okay and I would go again if I were in...
