Across over the river Main, Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge) is a pedestrian bridge connecting the Old Town of Frankfurt with the Sachsenhausen district. It is also known as the “Love Lock Bridge” for being hung with tons of locks interlinked with each other, forming an enormous chain, symbol of "eternal love". The bridge has been in place since 1868 was replaced in 1912 with a widened, reinforced and elevated construction. After World War II, the Eiserne Steg was rebuilt in 1946. In 1993, it underwent a complete renovation, prompted by decades-long corrosion gnawing at the steel, following which two elevators and prams were also added to ease access for wheelchairs. The bridge now has a clearance height of 6.50 m.

The entire city of Frankfurt exudes an air of exoticism, but there is one bridge in particular that caught my eye. The view from the bridge is nothing short of mesmerizing - the glistening blue waters of the river add another layer of allure to the already picturesque scene. The bridge is located within walking distance from the Dom Cathedral and Römerberg Square, taking roughly 10 minutes to reach. During my visit, I observed that locks were available for purchase, adding a romantic touch to the already captivating atmosphere. For those visiting Frankfurt, this spot is an absolute must-see.

A beautiful bridge across the river Main. The highlight for the city of Frankfurt. The bridge postulates the connection between the old and the new city. On one side of the bank, you would see on the left tall high raised buildings and on the right you would see very old building. On the other hand, you look at two banks in general you would see two forms of life. On one bank you would see work and other you see fun and happiness. A beautiful portrayal of life. The bridge itself better viewed during a summer night when the entire city of Frankfurt is lit and view is amazing.

Built in 1869, it connects the city center with the Sachsenhausen district. The bridge is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, featuring numerous love locks and a lively atmosphere. Its central location makes it easily accessible, and the scenic views, especially at sunset, are worth the visit. This bridge has gorgeous views of the river and the buildings that line each side of the river. There's also restaurants and bars on either side of the bridge that are only a short walk away from the entrance. The bridge also has "love locks" from couples all along the bridge so it's a great option to take a date and do something romantic! You can also bring beers as you walk along the bridge. It's pretty cold walking across the bridge in the winter, so I would recommend to wear warm clothing and definitely bring some gloves!
