After a disappointing time at Seehaus Hamburg, we wandered down a bustling street filled with restaurants in search of a better experience. Our quest led us to Vasco Da Gama. Warmly greeted by a gentleman, we inquired about a table for two. Although he didn't utter a word, his beaming smile and welcoming gestures spoke volumes. "Follow me," he motioned. The aroma of the kitchen enveloped us, instantly transporting me back to Portugal. The restaurant's nautical decor lent an air of adventure. The wine was superb, the octopus exquisite, and the Cataplana left me speechless. A shoutout to our multilingual waiter, Jose, fluent in English, German, and Spanish, who truly impressed. From the moment you walk in, you're transported straight to a cozy tapas bar in the heart of Spain or Portugal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with rustic decor and charming details that create an authentic mediterranean vibe. The service was truly exceptional. The staff were not only attentive and professional but also genuinely friendly and passionate about what they do. We had starters only but it was worth it. The food was delicious. If you are a tourist, just avoid this place: the food was relatively good but the tactic of this establishment is to bring you a snack just after your order, which you consider being a courtesy appetizer but turns to be charged (2 x eur 8.50) when they bring you the check. Then, the worst: unfriendly/unpolite behaviour when you argue on that, saying that they erroneously brought these snacks to you table instead to those who ordered it, but you ha e to pay because you are it.
