First I must say we had a very nice time at the Heritage rooftop bar. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Nothing but great things to say about it. We even had a spectacular view of the thunderstorm over the Alster last night, an unforgettable experience. We, however, will also not forget how we were greeted when we arrived to our reservation.
Given the COVID situation, we thought it wise to book a table in advance for Friday night; my close friend is visiting from Canada and wanted to take us out for cocktails. Based on this google listing, Heritage appears as one establishment. In fact, the link to book a table on this google page links to the Michelin Star Heritage restaurant, not the rooftop bar which we wanted.
We arrived to the rooftop bar to find out that we indeed had not made a booking there, because they don’t take reservations. A little bit surprised, we followed their friendly instructions to visit the restaurant on the 9th floor, with an open invitation to return to the bar if we were interested.
It was then that we were greeted not so friendlily.
We admit our own mistake, we did not arrive with our full party of 5 that we booked and confirmed. The host was visibly perturbed that we did not understand our reservation was for dinner only, instead pointing out that the reservation process is “extremely clear”, and normally is 50€ per person for no-shows. When we asked if they would like to have us anyways, we were given a demeaning, flippant answer. We were obviously not welcome there.
The booking process was, in fact, not “extremely clear”. Perhaps create separate google listings for the restaurant and bar. Have a corona update that states the bar is 2G and only takes walk ins, but the restaurant is 3G and takes reservations. And before blaming the customer, make sure you’ve done absolutely everything you can to make it...
Read moreDINNER WITH A VIEW PAR EXCELLENCE---NOT TO BE MISSED!!!Whether for a business meal, romantic dinner a deux or a wonderful meal with family the Heritage Hamburg starts you off on the right foot once you get into the express elevator outside the Le Meridien that whips you up to the Heritage in a blink of an eye. The view is astounding once you step out of the elevator and are led to your table--we were lucky enough, thanks to the Concierge, Herr Wagenfür, at the Hotel Atlantic, that a window front table was reserved for our family of 4. Alex our server arrived promptly to offer cocktails or an aperitif and recommended the Carrot Ginger soup with grilled prawn that I ended up having as an appetizer and was as good as he promised. Our table ordered both the amazing Pasta with Pfifferling and Spinach and Tomatoes as well as the Seezunge (Dover Sole) which was filleted table side and was a very generous portion and served with an excellent homemade hollandaise as well as fresh potatoes and spinach. We were so full we could not take advantage of the amazing desserts that included a lovely cheese assortment cart but we did have a shot of the Orange Blossom Geist they had amongst a cart of lovely after dinner drink options. Come for the View and the Food as well as the Service to match---a not to be missed on your next trip to Hamburg whether business...
Read moreWe had a truly lovely evening at Heritage Rooftop Bar. Arriving just before 7pm, we were lucky enough to catch the sunset from inside, with beautiful views and a relaxed, refined atmosphere.
We ordered two cocktails – a Porn Star Martini and Cuban Meets France – and both were absolutely delightful. The presentation was elegant, and the drinks were impressively chilled without the need for added ice, allowing the full flavour of each to come through clearly. It made sipping them all the more enjoyable.
The Porn Star Martini came with a small glass of champagne on the side – a thoughtful touch that helped cleanse the palate after the cocktail's sweet, fruity notes. The balance of flavours in both drinks showed real attention to detail.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience – a perfect spot for enjoying sunset cocktails in style. Would...
