Museum der Illusionen Hamburg — Attraction in Hamburg

Positive: Cool illusions, everything in german and in English, clean, nice staff, no wait time

Negative: Incredibly small (30min max), no "explanations" of the illusions (why is the brain fooled? Who invented the illusion?), some illusions aren't illusions at all but simple puzzles.

Maybe we just got unlucky but the place was FILLED with parents and kids. Now hear me out - I am the last person to complain about families having fun and making noise in public. But JESUS CHRIST the amount of screaming from children and parents alike, the complete lack of manners (kids fighting, blocking the way, spilling food anywhere because apparently waiting 20min to eat is too much to ask nowadays)... extremely unpleasant.

Worst of all were the parents taking photos with every. single. illusion. while yelling at Kylee and Chantalle to stop destroying the museum. At least 20min of our time was spent waiting for ignorant mums to get out of the way which they were blocking to take pics...

Really great little museum - great for kids, although the adults in our group also had a really great time. All information about the illusions is presented in both German and English, so this is a great idea for English speakers. Very small place, though - we were through it in less than 30 minutes, so we just went through a second time! Honestly, I am not sure I would be too interested if I did not have children - this might be a bit underwhelming if only for a group of adults (we had so much fun BECAUSE we were having fun with the kids). Also, I would not plan this as a full day trip. I recommend this as a single activity with plenty of time to do other things on...

Very rude staff. I had booked my ticket in advance and showed what I thought was the ticket. The person in the front desk told me that it wasn't the receipt. My bad and I tried to get access to my mail to find the right document while doing that the person behind the frontdesk kept telling that I would also show a boarding pass and not a receipt if I bought a flight ticket. He kept talking to me as I was an idiot. He even continued even thought I started ignoring him. If it weren't because I already paid the ticket and couldn't get I refund I would have left the place. The place was alright but I wouldn't...
