If you’re considering a stay at BoxHotel Hannover, let me save you the trouble: don’t. The concept might seem innovative at first glance, but the execution is abysmal. This place masquerades as a hotel, but in reality, it’s nothing more than a glorified hostel. Expect to be disturbed all night by people chattering away in the corridors or, bafflingly, by the sound of vacuuming at 11:30 PM. The rooms are devoid of any soundproofing, so every whisper, every footstep, and every bit of noise infiltrates your space. If your primary goal is to sleep, steer clear of this establishment.
But the horrors don’t stop there. The shower operates on a bizarre button timer, granting you a measly 10 seconds of water at a time. The shared toilets are another nightmare, reeking because a urinal was out of order and filled with piss. To top it off, the app you need to access your room is a convoluted mess. You’ll have to jump through hoops with sign-ups and mobile verification just to avoid a key card. And God forbid your phone battery dies or you forget your phone—you’ll be utterly screwed.
There was absolutely no need to reinvent the wheel, but BoxHotel Hannover somehow managed to create a square one. Avoid it...
Read moreThis is a really unique hostel style accommodation. We stayed in a twin room of bunk beds and were amazed to find our own shower somehow fitting into these quite small rooms, this was a huge bonus and its amazing what they can fit. It's all very modern and you need an app to unlock the main door and the door to your room so make sure you're fully charged on your phone before you go out! Rooms really clean as were the communal toilets. This was ideal for our short stay. A couple of frustrations, one that there is free coffee advertised in the entrance area between 9 and midday which is great however you need a token from reception and on both mornings as we left there wasn't anyone on reception so that doesn't really work. The other isn't particularly the fault of the hotel staff however these are box rooms and the walls are as thin as a cardboard box meaning you can hear every single door slam and wall bang. On our second morning the guests in the room next door were playing music at 7am and banging around for an hour. Not a brilliant night's sleep but maybe just...
Read moreWe stayed at BoxHotel Hannover for two nights and had a fun and unique experience. The place was clean — not like a five-star hotel, of course — but charming in its own way. Each room had its own shower, which was a bit intimidating at first but added to the quirky experience. Every morning, we were offered a free cup of coffee on the terrace, which was a nice touch. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, the cleaning staff seemed quite cold and unfriendly. The location was also great — just a 15-minute walk from the main train station, which made getting around very easy. Overall, it was a cool and different stay —...
