If you're in Lübeck, you should of course stay "inside the walls" - that is in the Altstadt. Lübeck was quite messed up during WWII, but still survived enough (and got restored) to keep the medieval core and feeling. And Lübeck is indeed on the UNESCO world heritage list.||The Altstadt is an Island surrounded by the Trave river, which connects to the sea through Travemünde. So, for a maximum feeling on being in the great capital of the Hansa, stay on the Island!||Koberg (hence the name "KO 15") is in the northern part of the fairly small and very walkable Altstadt-island. The hotel consists of two adjoining buildings and is charmingly positioned at the square just opposite the St. Jakobi church. From there you can walk "Breite Straße" (broad street), Lübeck's main shopping street, from north to south. On the way you pass nearly all interesting tourist spots.||||KO 15 is a small and well kept hotel. Not at all luxurious, but with everything you need for a couple of nights. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and the beds are comfortable.||Be aware that:||there is no AC (could get really hot for the rooms facing south)||a lot of street life on the square outside (the hotel provides earplugs!)||pillows are extremely thin||||Otherwise, most things are more than ok. Good working wifi. Very clean. Classical good German breakfast is served for an affordable price.||Staff is kind and fairly helpful (except they were unable to provide pillows higher than 4 cm...)||||With a very affordable price KO 15 is highly...
Read moreGreat 1 night stay at this hotel!||||Location is just perfect, about 10 minutes walk to the old town center. Download the walking tour and you will find some little gems hidden in the city, like lovely private backyards that you can have access as a tourist if you respect the neighbourhood ;) You have to stop at Neideregger's for Marzipan and Amaro for chocolate (near to the hotel)!||||The room is huge (compared to european standards). Spotless. I had room 11 with a superb view of the Cathedral in front of the hotel!||Bed is ok, mattress is a little bit "bouncing" and pillows should be changed (flat). There is no a/c so be aware in heat waves that it could be hot. Sleep the window open is an option but you will ear noises from the restaurants and people below. Also, no darkness in the room as curtains don't completely cover the windows.||||There is a tiny elevator (my stroller, a Baby Jogger Versa) could barely fit in. And there are about 10 steps to access the reception so not really wheelchair accessible (unless there is another way to get to the reception). The reception staff is friendly and helpful.||||The hotel is easy to find and there is a private parking next street but you have to book it ahead. Because of one way streets, it takes about 10 minutes to get to the parking by car.||||Despite the little negative points, I would go back to this hotel in a heart beat. ||I completely felt in love with the little...
Read moreNice rooms, paid parking close by, however the hotel seemed a bit cheap and lacking the last 10 % to be.. good. The room (family) was nice and newly redone. But the staff hadn't noticed that a ligth was out in the ceiling lamp and in a bedside lamp. Not a big problem but telling for the general problem - they just don't notice the details. That also resulted in toilet paper running out and the soap dispenser running dry (it was almost emtpy from day 1). Things that should have been noticed along the way by the cleaning staff.||The breakfast buffet was boring and the warm dishes (eggs, bacon, sausages) only had enough to cover the bottom of the tray - again a sign of the hotel constantly being "cheap" trying to offer at little as possible. A messy plate under the juice container not being changed and such... so.. stay was okay - but not...
