This was my worst experience ever. I'm not even talking about the condition of the rooms. The service is terrible. If you have a choice to pick another hotel, do it. Two nights cost me 224 Euros, such a waste for the hostel's level of services. The hotel claims itself as a 4-star, but this ranking was newsworthy at the beginning of the 00s, as well as the room's design. In detail:
The hotel's capacity: 514 rooms, 7 floors. The building is giant. Surprisingly, there are only 4 elevators: a pair for each wing, and one is always out of order. So, at the end you have pair on the opposite side of the entrance and one (main) in the hall. Some trains arrive more frequently than this unfortunate “survivor”. The restaurant runs out of schedule. I haven't had a chance to visit it. Our schedules have never matched. It closes at 20:30 and doesn't open for lunch. Room service is questionable. I personally wasn't able to reach them by phone. Iron. They don't have an iron in the room. Instead you have to find the "ironing room," as they call it, yourself. Perhaps this is a hidden room in the building; you need Harry Potter to find it. There are only 2 people at the reception desk, one in the evening hours. It's clearly not enough for a hotel of this size. Bathroom accessories: body lotion only. Take your stuff with you. The room bar is empty; you have to ask the reception. There isn't even a bottle of water...
Read moreWe were here on a business trip. First of all a word of warning. While this hotel is bang in the centre of Magdeburg & the room and breakfast were cheap, the car parking costs €21 a day (or part of the day) which is very expensive.||I stayed at the Maritim Hotel in Frankfurt which appears to be a bit more modern than this hotel in Magdeburg. However, this hotel is still looks impressive on the inside. Check-in was done beforehand. We still went to reception to get our keys etc. While efficient, it was not a friendly welcoming experience. I need to be honest about that. ||The room itself was fine. It had everything needed including the minibar and the shower worked fine. However, this is another example of a hotel in Germany who make it difficult to work the television and the instructions do not work. While, I did not spend much time, it is still very annoying when the basics like this do not work. Just get the TV to switch on, off and make it easy to use. It should not be an exam.||The pool area was small but good for a quick swim. The sauna is huge. I reckon that it is bigger than the gym itself. Breakfast was excellent. It will never compare to the hotel in Frankfurt which was the best ever in my opinion. It only had a small dispense bar section at the end of the hotel which surprised me due to the size of the hotel. I did not eat there. ||Altogether it is a fine hotel. However for me, it was...
Read moreTerrible service and Disappointing Experience about Unannounced Charges!
I stayed at the Maritim Hotel Magdeburg for two weeks to do medical treatment for my husband, and the experience was awful. I can handle that On the AC in the hotel was not cold, making the stay very uncomfortable during the summer heat. But after i checked out, the reservation, handled by Islam Mounir, charged me €600 for a double booking without confirming it with me while I was already staying at the hotel. After so many email asking for a refund finally this issue was resolved, but there’s another hidden charges. They charged me €100 for an additional cleaning service without any prior notice or explanation.
I have requested a refund, but the hotel’s handling of the issue has been irresponsible and unprofessional. They are not addressing the problem properly, and this lack of accountability is extremely frustrating.
I expected far better from this hotel, but the hidden fees and poor management have completely ruined my stay. I do not recommend this...
