People don't realise that there are 3 different blocks at Lighthouse. Two are owned by one brother and one is owned by the other brother. The photo here shows Lighthouse 1. We have stayed in Lighthouse 2 four times and love the place.||||It is pretty rustic outside of the properties as it is also run as a farm. There are a variety of animals: Rabbits, dogs, chickens, geese and a couple of kittens, but not many. There is also a cockerel who is unlikely to wake you up as he tends to crow in the middle of the afternoon. You are also surrounded by Almond, Fig and Lemon trees, which you can take the fruit from if ready.||||The apartments are amazing. They are kept spotlessly clean. The cleaner is very accommodating and subtle about when she arrives. They are much bigger than the standard Greek apartment and have the necessary items. They are basic, but adequate, particularly if you are eating out much of the time. I have cooked there, but there are only 2 hobs, so cooking needs to be 1 pan dishes.||||Please note, if you stay at Lighthouse 2 you do not get 15% off at the restaurant, but the air con and safety box are included in the price, which works out to be a bigger discount than 15% off at the restaurant given in Lighthouse 1.||||The walk from the apartments to the beach is around 5 - 10 minutes, depending on your own mobility. The hill is a little long and has a gradient up to the apartments, but going down it is pretty quick and easy. It would not be difficult unless you had significant mobility problems. If you've never been before it would make sense to take a torch, as street lighting to the apartments is sparse.||||Having been 4 times we would thoroughly recommend these apartments. The owners, Georgia and Costas, are lovely. It would be useful to call in at the restaurant when you arrive though, to find out which room...
Read moreLighthouse Studios, be aware if you have any problems with mobility this place isn't for you plus it has not seen a coat of paint in well over a year, the Thomas Cook rep didn't even realise that this property was on her books. Its at least half a mile to the nearest shop and at least half of that is on a dirt track. Don't get caught up in the hype regarding this property, its very basic,we moved after 5 days of treking up and down this track at a cost of 765 euros, you may get 15% of at the Lighthouse Taverna but one visit was enough to see it was the most basic of all of the restaurants in Katelios..||We stayed on the island for two weeks and after five days we really did enjoy our stay there, reastarants to look out for are in order of delicousness is, Jerrys which is opposite the Alkioni apartments where we moved to for our last 9 days and is clean and tidy with a lovely pool and a relaxing atmosphere, next restaurant is down the hill on the way to the beach on the left hand side, I didn't catch its name but its the only one with a neon sign the flashes its wares and gives the daily temperature, it was the cheapest and one of the best with all home cooking and lovely staff, Captain Jerrys down on the seafront was good to but a little expensive,, Nemesis does the best breakfast and has very friendly staff and you cant rent sunbeds from them.||Katelios is a lovely little fishing village and I would go back there, if you get a chance you have to go to Skala and take a boat trip to Ithaka, a stunning horseshoe bay and venetian biuldings,,,,the greek isles,,,you just cant beat them and all the time I'm able to visit...
Read moreBooked a last minute holiday via Thomas Cook Flexible Trips with accommodation at Lighthouse Studios.||We were in the two storey apartments. ||||Good points – huge room (probably the largest we have had on any Greek holiday); spotlessly clean; friendly owner (runs Lighthouse restaurants); good location. ||Not so good – the outside could do with a lick of paint. The grounds were untidy, old motorbike, old chairs lying around as well as building materials (large drainage type pipes)||||We liked the small holding aspect – cockerels, chickens and rabbits were running around. ||No pool here (we knew before booking). ||As others have said – take a torch as not very well lit. ||||Safe 10 Euros per week and air conditioning 7 Euro per day. ||||Overall, had a nice week and apartments were fine for our stay, If we were to come back to Katelios, would probably see what other accommodation was available before booking these...
